Edit: Oops I hit the post button to fast. I didn't change anything in the clients except to turn off sound on both of them. My PC has 4GB of RAM.

Originally by: Lt Shard ^^ no need for 2 eve folders unless you run sisi
Actually there is. If you run out of one folder the game doesn't create seperate settings and cache folders for each account. Back when I ran out of one folder strange and unexplainable things would happen a LOT. ---

Here's a screen shot of what Eve will do automatically if you run out of two folders. In this case my install is on my Z: drive and I have two accounts. One is in Z:\Eve\Gellen and one is in Z:\Eve\Nabuk http://www.neoncranium.com/MultiAccts.jpg If you run them out of the same folder then you only get one set of cache files and back when I used to do that I'd get random crashes to desktop and sometimes my jet cans and hangars wouldn't update correctly. After I started running them out of seperate folders I've had no issues at all like that and my crashes vanished completely. ---

From here: CCP Tanis Says You're Doing It Wrong, LAWL!
But please, feel free to continue doing it wrong as you see fit. I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with that!

Nope. Crashed my clients randomly and caused my containers to go borky borky. Been there. Done that.
Let's give the poor OP the correct advice whether it works for you on your magic computer or not. ---

Edited by: Par''Gellen on 16/12/2008 16:04:39 Actually here are some old screen shots of what I'm talking about. This wasn't just limited to BP's though but that's all I have screenies for and it's rather hard to show a screenshot of something that isn't showing up. Oh and I could give you a screenshot of my desktop but I think you get the idea.
Borky Borky Container 1
And my favorite:
Borky Borky BPO
This kind of thing stopped happening after I started running out of two folders. ---

Originally by: Goyda I wonder if running multiple clients from one folder is what is causing my eve to lockup randomly. I don't lock up on ANYTHING else but eve. It's weird. And sometimes go for weeks without a single lockup, then other times I can have it happen 3 or 4 times.
And since we're kinda talking install/tech here. My windows drive is labelled a E:\ Which doesn't present a problem except for EvE , even though I have modified ALL the reg entries and made sure they're pointing to E:\... sometimes when I login I get an error saying it can't access C:\... is there a hard code in there ?
That E: drive thing is odd... I installed Eve to my Z: drive and have no problems with it. The only thing I can think of is it might be trying to access the cache or settings files which are always stored on your C: drive no matter where you install the game. Check the user permissions on all the subfolders in "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" (that's on XP, not sure what that path would be for Vista users). Make sure the user account you are logging into the computer with has full access to those folders. ---

Originally by: Goyda I know the user has permissions on all the folders. however for some reason my USB removable storage in my HP inkjet comes up as the C drive which is weird. I will check what you are saying. But my windows drive is one partition and it shows up as E: I am running XP pro btw.
Oh. Check your HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH variables the next time you see the problem. Sounds like something is getting borked somehow.
To check them: 1. Click Start 2. Click Run 3. Type in CMD and hit Enter 4. Type in SET and hit Enter
Those two variables should be in the list somewhere. If HOMEDRIVE or HOMEPATH is pointing to your C: drive that could explain things.
Hope this helps.
Edit: From the sound of your set up check all the variables in that list to make sure they aren't pointing to your C: drive. ---
