How can I reduce the powergrid use of the cyno field generator on a covert ops frigate. the thing barely fits.

when you generate a cyno field you are incapasitated for 10mins with a big bulls eye painted on you.
better to lose a tech 1 frig

Indeed and a nice big cyno beacon lights up on the map as well for anyone interested in keeping their territory policed.
Kestral is the best t1 cyno frig and if you hit a bubble camp then use the mwd/cloak trick just like on a normal cov ops. You won't go as far away from the gate but really unless the campers were in top form you should easily avoid the rush until you get past the bubble. And if not then meh it was just a kessie piloted by a nub cyno alt.

Edited by: Janu Hull on 16/12/2008 17:25:27 For a quick cyno fit, I use a single RCU II, a Covops cloak, and a Cyno Generator. That's all that really fits, but then again, that's really all it needs. Its not fighting anyone, so all I want it to do is get from point A to point B, light the cyno, then log off or go to point C.
Edit: Before the troll brigade hits. Its a fit strictly for 0.0 use at midpoint POSes. In lowsec, I use Bantams or Crows, because they're cheap as hell and plentiful. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

Auxiliary thingy works best. Gives you 10MW each and much better than a reactor core on small ships.

I would agree with this in general, but compared to the cost of an RCU II, I'd just as soon save those for frigates you intend to do more than lug a capital around with. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

Micro Auxiliary Power Cores are dirt cheap to produce. Cheaper than RCU II.

If you must fit a Cyno generator to a CovOps frigate, keep it offline until you actually need it. Offline whatever you need to in order to fit it (usually your MWD/AB), online the cyno, and light it. If you're jumping in carriers and the system isn't too hot, you could have one of them hang around and keep you locked for remote reps. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

I stand corrected, because I can never find the damned things, except the looted named ones, and they're rare as cat's teeth that I've seen (my own fault, I live in 0.0...) In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.
