I was wondering. I have a scorpion and wanted to make sure i did it right. For solo pvp which i know caldari isn't good for anyway should i go full ECM and dps or very little ECM tank and gank. I like the idea of if they cant hit you no need for tank. What would be a good setup? Should I do 2 multies and the rest race specific, or all multies. and high slots and low slots would be nice to know as well. Thanks :D

Switch out the ECMs for more painters to reach above .05dps on a similar sized ships, warp out if anything smaller tries to engage. |

Without and sensor boosters you will not be able to lock and point any ship that would require you to need 2 target painters unless they are afk. TBH you may not even need 1 target painter as you will probably only be able to tackle a BS and you have a webber. I would have at least 1 SB II and possibly a low slot variant as well in lieu of a BCS or SDA. To be honest, the Scorpion isn't a very good solo ship. You're limiting your targets to outlaws because you can't tank sentries and it has pretty poor damage. Not to mention it's a battleship, and (unfortunately) unscouted solo battleships are targets for blobs these days. That having been said, I hear the l0rpi0n is a good solo boat, c/d?

The Scorpion's tank is booboo. It's just terrible outside of fleets.
Never use Multispecs. SMASH fit multispecs on everything. They don't exist anymore. Why trade a terrible chance to jam anything vs. a great chance at jamming one specific thing? Dumbness is why. Don't be dumb.

Edited by: Ferenc Puskas on 20/12/2008 12:18:55 lol scorp can't solo
Highs -4x Electron Blasters II -1x Siege Launcher II
Medium -2x Sensor Dampners II -3x ECM II -1x Heavy Electrochemical Cap Booster -1x Sensor booster -1x Warp Disruptor II
Low -1x Large Armor Repair II -1x Damage Contron II -1x 1600mm Rolled Tungsten Plate -1x EANM II
with this setup you can take on 2-3 others if they can't jam you, other than that this is a setup that will kick the **** out of most ships, the gunnery/armor/ecm skills are a must or else something will fall short and just get obliterated.
Ninja Edit: forgot if your cap skills arn't great then 3x CCC if not then 1x CCC and 2x either damage/tank/ecm rigs.

How do you intend to get into disruptor/torp/blaster range with no prop mod? -----------

If your jamming them, they cannot do anything so you just approach them. Now if a gang jumps on you and they look like they got a mean setup then just jamm the ones who are trying to warp jam you and warp out and fight some other solo shmuck.
stealth edit: plus implants help with torp range.

It is possible to solo in a Scorp. It just takes A) alot of patience looking for the correct target, and B) Alot of prethought into the battle.
I use to routinely take out Isk farmers in a scorp slightly before the Torp change, and continued to (albeit much less during the war) afterwards. Its all about picking your fights.
First tip: Never use Multis. They suck. Figure out ECM math and realize the diff between 1.4 and 2.4 isnt enough to warrant the equaling effect. Always use race specific. (1 of each, and 2 of what you expect to come in contact the most, Generally, I used Caldari ECMs, but Minmatar/Gallente are always good secondaries)
After the torp change, I used Cruise launchers mostly instead of torps. With a SBII attached, I was able to stay out of range of most BS's while perma-jamming them. (Raven is about 100km, Id sit 125km and just keep at range) This of course required an inty/Recon support. Solo, I did use Cruise (only cause my torp skills sucked, never needed more than torp 1 for L4 missions before ;) but stayed in Warp dist range.
I always kept Full signal amps and Signal rigs equipped. No need for traditional defense if they can never target you =) Always remember, ECM IS your tank.
Though from the way you state your question, I don't believe your experienced enough to successfully fly a Scorp solo. It takes ALOT of practice and experience to fly properly. (And all that time could of been better spent, believe me)
Oh and uh, always fit an MWD :P
As for setup, Weapons hight, maybe a neut/nos (alot of Ratting setups are tight on Capac, a single neut == no tank) Mids, MWD, SB/Cap Booster, Warp Dist, Racial ECMs Lows: Signal Dist amps Rigs: Signal Amps (All strength amps)
Welcome to the Scorpion club ;) Our numbers are dwindling (for good reason :P) -----------------------------------

hello
i have soloed in a scorp before. and honestly i think it has the highest survival rate of anyship i have soloed in.and its tank is ecm. the only problem is that it has terrible dps. now i have taken on ishtars and other t2 cruisers and other bs's and it handles extreamly well. but you cant kill anything with it. the dps is to low but it can stale mate anyone.
my set up was 4 cruise launchers 7 multies and a sig strength increaser and basically cap rechargers in the lows
no dps but amazing tank

MWD or AB is almost mandatory. Same goes for sensor booster. Scorp's are very decent even in solo or smallgang applications. It has 2 major problems though: You will have trouble with small, fast ships. And if your adversary brings in one or two friends, you're toast.

i use remote reps, cap transfer and neuts in my scorp
2 ECCM and 6 ECM
2 ECM amps and couple hardeners/plate
energy transfer rigs
i have a dominix partner who sits with me and fires sentry drones, we Remote Rep and Remote Cap transfer between each other.
The rest just go into the dog fight, we stay a bit off... works for us, ECCM adds resistance to enemy jamms
