What about the Jovians? it's been awhile since we've heard anything about them? Will we ever be able to play as them? fight against them? |

Damn it, more Jovian talk.
I'll say again here that, for me at least, the idea of playing Jovians is ridiculous. They are supposed to be far more advanced than we are, and being able to play them would either mean flying ships that are far more powerful than anything we have no, thus obsoleting what already exists, or balancing them for the sake of gameplay which removes what made them special in the first place.

I think I read in Zulupark's Q & A thread that the Jovians are far away in terms of when CCP will be adding them to the game (except perhaps in Chronicles).

The Amarrians tried to fight the Jovians once. They got WTFBBQPWNED...
I think the Joves look on us with a parent<->child viewpoint. They have all the knowledge, all the answers, and when they think we're ready for it, they very slowly share that knowledge with us. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- PROPOSAL: Chaos Incarnate's Face MMORPG: Many Men Online Role Playing Girls |

Just what we need, a bunch of Jovian RP'ers. Like the forums arn't Emo enough.
I suspect CCP will keep quiet about them a little while longer, then we'll find out those wierd stealthy aliens killed off all the Jove. That'll be the nerf to 'when do we get to see the Jove?' threads.

There is a bit about the Jovians on the last pages of the Empyrean Age Novel, but the text only gives more questions and no answers.
From what I understood the Jovians are in deep trouble and maybe even about to die out as a race. It also seems that they Jovians tried to hide ancient Terran Artifacts and their technology from the other races but they failed and so Jamyl Sarum was able to get an ancient superweapon for use against Minmatar Elder Fleet.

I always wanted to be a jove.
Hmm... Wonder if CCP would let us become jove if we for every 1 mill sp we convert into jove got like 100k jove sp back?
I would be jolly happy just having something unique in game terms, even if they where not "the pwn" compared to the other races - but balanced! Its just that I love playing such a diseased race! (see sig btw)

Pretty much. There are also the Enhuadanni who fill the role of the Shadows. I can't remember which of the chronicles talks about them, but it's the one with the Galletean pilot addicted to Serpentis pain killers who heads into Amarr space to help rescue the Minmatar Elders. It's only a few lines, where the Jovian reveals that the Galletean pilot has been getting her premonitions from The Others (Enhuadanni), and wonders out loud what game The Others are playing with all these actors and the attempted rescue of the Elders (amongst other famous events that have shaped the history of the EVE Cluster).
And I've probably got the spelling of Enhuadanni wrong.
But yes, the Jove and Enhuadanni are basically plot devices to cover up developers meddling with the fabric of the EVE universe.
Oh look! Capsules! Yes, the Jove gave us that. Oh, and here, have jump clones! Another neato toy from the Jove empire. Oh, and here's Jamyl Sarum magically back from the dead with a superweapon that blows up entire Titan fleets... we're not telling you, but the word on the street is that the Enhuadanni had their hand in that little backstory.
I'm just curious as to how the Scope will be reporting on the whole "fabricating 7 times as much Ferrogel from thin air" scandal that's been happening lately. UFOs planting resources to destabilise the EVE empires?
Anyway, I think I've pretty much wandered far enough off topic as it is. I should stop here.

As much as SiJira is one of the biggest crapposters on these forums (and I've enjoyed his absense), he actually got quite lucky here. It's an accurate comparison, just like someone else that posted about 'you get it at lv70'-whatever up there.
Older MMO's and MUD's usually either had an extreme level cap, i.e. xp got less the higher you leveled, with an xp penalty on death. In some others you had a roof/max level, but instead you gave players hero levels, a way to keep progressing your character without getting higher levels. Instead, go via skills, attributes, whatever.
..uhm, that was just a short sidetrack/historylesson. The relevance to this subject is; Blizzard promised their players, already while the game was in beta-stages, that they'd deliver a hero class eventually. With Blizzard dev ties to older fantasy MMO's, including Everquest, people were expecting a 'true' hero class. Well, turns out WoW got really popular outside the regular gamers. So Blizzard made a soft carebear version of a "hero class", nothing that really resembles what a hero class is to older MMO players. And then I've not even started to talk about how they let every race (!) in the game turn into this class, rather than making it it's own race. It's not even a multistep questline to get the so-called epic mount.
In the light of that, it's quite relevant to ask someone that want access to Jove, to 'go back to WoW'. It would be a huge mistake to put Jove characters/ships into players hands. Alot more reasonable to have some NPC (why not in conjunction with FW) interaction with Jovians, but no, players + Jove = WoW hero class = relevant to argue on that level.

The Jove are too busy fighting the Vorlons off grid to be assed to come to your character creation screen.
