I've been playing EVE for a very long time, and Exploring since it's inception. My questions mainly pertain to once you have already found the complex, and are well into it. I'll provide you with a scenario:
In my probing a system in 0.0 last week, I discovered an Unknown site. After much probing, I found an Angel Shipyard 10/10 complex. I BM'd the entry gate, called up the friends and began to hit it. In the 3rd room of the Plex, some Neuts jumped into local and shortly thereafter our group was warped in upon by said Neuts, right in the 3rd room. I'm not sure if/how they probed us, however I thought it was not possible to do so as your Sig radius was reduced by some ridiculous calculation.
This brings me to my questions...
1. Can someone discover a complex, go into a room of the plex and drop a BM then come back later and warp to said BM right into a specific room? (Did not think this was possible as it would still drop you at the entrance)
2. If someone does warp in on you while you are doing the Plex once you have started it, can this group then complete the complex?

Edited by: Hatt0ri Hanz0 on 17/12/2008 18:49:48 1. If it had gates, and I presume it did, then no there's no warping directly to the 3rd room. Its not at all difficult to probe people in their missions/deadspace plexes. Its just time consuming. But if you had drones out, mwd'ing around, it made it ALOT easier. Now having said all that, I'm wouldn't say with 100% certainty, that there wasn't a bug, that allowed the neuts to do exactly what you said they did. I've just never heard of it before.
Are you sure you were totally alone in system right up to the point that the neuts warped in on you? Could there have been a neut in system and systematically probed you guys out and then had his mates come in when he found you? Its always possible that they found the site prior and you just got there first with your ships?
2. Until the plex is finished and it despawns, it belongs to anyone and everyone, that can find it.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm sure it is certainly possible that someone could have probed us out, thoroughly (Russians are tricky bast*rds).
Although, I understand anyone can probe the Plex out until it despawns, however that last question is more to the affect of if said group warps in on you in the 3rd room, can they just activate the next gate from there to go into the 4th room or would they have to come from the beginning, as I did?

In every complex I've done (nothing higher than 4/10 so far though) the gate is locked until one of three things happen:
1) all the hostiles in the room are destroyed 2) a particular ship in the room is destroyed 3) you loot a key to the gate from some ship.
In the third case, the key may not be consumed, which would allow you to bypass all the content in the room and go straight for the next. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

I don't think there is any mechanism that I know of to let you warp directly to the third room, but what about this order of operations.
Neutral scanner finds an unknown and scans down a warp gate. BMs, then leaves to go get buddies and his combat ship. You enter system and scan down same complex/gate. Neutrals come back with combat ships and gang warp directly to gate. Neutrals work their way through empty rooms until landing on top of your gang.
Certainly would be possible.

I have had a situation where a probe hit placed me in the second room of a complex.
But when I bm'd and warped back to it I ended up at the acceleration gate.

i had an interesting situation where i got a hit on a site in nullsec but was a bit off on the acuracy so i kept heading in the direction that i was warping in and after about 20 min, i came onto grid on a 10/10 plex in the 3rd room. no friends so i ended up selling the location to a friendly corp for 10 mil

That in particular did not happen. They came from above, not through the gate or anywhere near it.
When i found the complex originally, i got a hit within about 400km. Warped to it at 0, and ended up inside the 1st room, which i bookmarked. When i came back with buddies, i ended up at the entry gate not at my bookmark. Just didnt know how far in you may end up if scanning it out and warping in.

*cov ops/force recon found you, went through the gates, sat on you and had his mates warp to him. They land on first gate and continue on through, build on the entrance to the pocket your in, then all go in together.

Its a bug I deal with ALL the time. Certain rooms in certain plex's are bugged bad. For example - tonight I did an expedition. Theres a bug where you warp to the expedition's initial gate, warp back out, and warp back to it and it sling shots you to the final room, bypassing three rooms of neut towers and unnecessiary grinding. I've also probed people out and warped to them and it did the same thing, bypassed the warp gates and land right in their room.
Firstly, even if it is unbugged deadspace, they can still probe you using a number of methods I won't go over. While being more difficult that before, it is far from impossible. My concern is that this bugged deadspace doesn't give you the probe strength resistance of normal deadspace & allows people to warp right on top of you.
So to answer your Q's, 1. Not exactly, but certain deadspace plexas are bugged and people can 'skip rooms'
2. Yes. In fact this is a good reason to take someones plex. I frequently steal other explorer's plexs and finish them.

A lot of plexes allow you to warp to later rooms directly, for example, the 2nd areas in Serpentis Logistical Outpost.
Its meant to work like that afaik, knowing which plexes allow it and which dont is really hard to tell tho.
As for the whole skipping areas of a plex, please bug report which sites and areas do this.

I was under the impression exploration and DED complexes did not allow you to warp back to a BM if it is past a locked gate. Mission-specific ones do, I've been told, but not the first two. You're saying some DED and exploration complexes allow you to come back? I could fit all my 1st ship's high slots with weapons and come back with a salvaging ship.
