Edited by: Deakka Eltham on 18/07/2004 05:05:37 They can, but remember there's a slight activation delay so you have to time it, activating the smartbomb before the missile is in your radius (also make sure nothing else is in the smartbombs radius, especially in Empire unless you want Concord to come gank you) Edit - I believe I read somewhere that hitting a cloaked ship in empire with your smartbomb will cause a concord ganking as well

Against NPCs smartbombs can be quite effective against missiles (though as the previous post said you need to be aware of the explosion delay and be careful around secure cans, sentry guns and gates).
However, smartbombs are not very good in PVP mainly because in the heat of battle it is quite hard to coordinate the explosions to deter incoming missiles. They are useless in autorepeat, and manually they take too much attention to be effective against players... at least that has been my experience.

The only three things Ive known people to use em for are missile defense, ganking little ships, and nuking instajumpers. So yeah, they work but its a bad idea to use them in empire space b/c youll likely mess up and get ganked by Concord. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |
