So a loser griefer corp declared war on my corp a week ago, and to date we've seen one of their members online once. So what can we do? We're ready to gank these dumbasses, but they won't log on. If this is all some sort of ploy to catch us off guard, I applaud them, but frankly I don't give them that much credit.
We need some way to easily humiliate a foe into showing up, especially when they're the ones who declare war. I mean, if you're gonna do it in the first place, have the cajones to face your enemy for Zeus' sake.

We have had people like that before, small corps that have less than 10 people that we never heard of and never see, with them retracting it a few weeks later without any contact. Some strange people out in this game. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Edited by: Del Narveux on 18/07/2004 09:37:21 Most griefer corps Ive run into dont have the cajones to take on a fight with remotely fair odds, they probably declared to try and gate-gank some of your people in empire space and ran+hid when they realized you meant serious business.
Edit: Im actually involved in such a war right now (on other char of course). Basically we alternate between all of them camping one of our members in-station, and a couple of our members camping all of theirs. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

Well you can post on an official forum naming the griefer corp and the members, that might put a little pressure on them.
Generally though if the war has meant you have not seen the griefers, it has already done its job. The last thing you need of griefers is to keep seeing them, keep them tucked under whatever rock they crawled from and they are no harm at all.

People sometimes use this tactic to catch people of guard. You start a corp on an alt, declare war and leave the alt idle. The enemy will look at declaring corp and ceo info and think hmmn, mad noobs. The threat seems insignificant and after time they forget about the situation without knowing which corp is really behind the declaration. The declaring corp waits for it opportunity and then shifts the fighters into corp.

I didn't realize war... or for that matter fighting required fair odds. Isn't the goal to minimize your own losses while maximizing those of the enemy? I, for one, do not look to return to the days of thousands of troops marching into each other to see which army lasted the longest. Just isn't the way warfare works these days.
I'd be on the lookout F'nog. If they know and understand the war system I wouldn't operate under the assumption that they are n00bs or unprepared. Worst case scenario is that they used an alt corp to declare the war and one day they "pick up" 10-15 new members who *are* online a lot.
Fighting is fighting, war is war... they are different. |

10-15 new members? Bring em on, we've got 200+ members itching for some adrenaline fun.
I feel sorry if someone actually hired them to attack us. Bou did they get robbed.

I'm with F'nog on this one... they never even logged in to face us. We did our research early and got all but a few of their names, I have them all on my buddylist and since the war has been declared I haven't seen one person log in. It makes me wonder how the war got declared in the first place. ----------------------------------------------

We have some very long term incoming war-decs as well, and generally its a sign that the corp that declared them is either very new and inactive or very long term (dying) and inactive. Why? Because sanctioned war declarations are about the rarest commodity in eve. When Jericho declares war we usually cycle or retract the declaration after a week if we can't find the enemy because its simply a waste of slot otherwise. To see this not happening in one's foe is a sign that their corporation is not actually doing very much. We pride ourselves on using our 3 concord declared wars to provide actual combat potential against philosophical foes.
(of couse, I think Darth Solo's theory has some merit as well)

I feel your pain. Well not pain really but just the whole issue.
We've had a one man corp declare 'war' on us. I say war, what I mean is some pointless situation of actual non-agression. I say some pointless situation of actual non-aggression what I really mean is some alt tw@t who's main character probably has the same missing chromosone and who has nothing better to do act like someone who you'd look at in social situations in the real world and think, my god, they let him out!! You do tend to wonder if they are RP'ing on principle alone which is kinda lame in itself if they never log.
The best you can do is know where they are docked, like we do of this character,(albeit invariably logged) and hope for the best if you can really be bothered. We can't.
Perhaps it could be the case that in 'non-active' wars after a period of time all participants receive a game generated mail stating if it continues for XXX time, the war will be declared null and void?

Don't even get me started on the 1-man wars. We've got about a half dozen of those, one for like 4 months now. Nafri left Pink Panty Raides without retracting her war, or coming to get me when I told her where I was located. And Rivek did the same thing.
So between the 8 wars declared against us, this is the only current one with more than 0-2 people in the corp, and they can't even bother to take action.
