When you start a scan, are the results determined when you hit the button or after the timer has finished?

Good question, I'd assume when you are finished.

Edited by: Sergeant Hjalli on 18/12/2008 04:57:32 I've been scanning two mission runners in 0.0 for about two hours without finding them. They ARE in range, they ARE NOT using drones.
I am currently using Fathom and Spook probes with no success. What's up? I've trained alot of probing skills and they ain't doing squat.
Help a brother out.
Also, there is an industrial ship at a POS within range (1au) which isn't being picked up either. What gives?

Edited by: Jesslyn Daggererux on 18/12/2008 07:50:16 it is when the scan finishes. yes, i am sure. as far as mission runners, its all luck. use the best strength probes you can for the distance away and hope. me and a friend will literally have both of us scanning a mission runner sometimes and it may take us 10-15 minutes OR SO to find him if we are lucky. i think its much too hard to find a mission runner and the chance needs a slight improvment.
im fine with it being harder than being just in normal space, but it should never be that two people with great probe skills and implants cannot find a BS in a mission within 20 minutes. and its happened, many times. want to have more fun, try finding a cruiser in level 1 or 2 mission, you have hardly a chance to find him. especially before hes done. my wishes will fall on deaf ears though.
edit: i dont know about ships in a pos. they show up on directional scanner, so id assume they will on a probe. try it somewhere else maybe and inform us how it goes.

i think 20 Minutes is just fine to find a mission runner. It definatly dont need any boost.

I'm tempted to say check you have "ships" selected in the scanner window. If not then are they in range? also scan probes > recon probes. 2hours seems a bit ridiculous.
