Cargo Container Clusters When one can is full, you could jettison another can to be glued to the first one, making it appear like 1 can of double size. The cans would expire/implode 2-4 hours after it was last modified (opened/taken from/added to).
Shared Cargo Holds Industrial ships could be shared/opened like a regular can. You could direct mining lasers to empty into these cargoholds instead of into your own ship.
Why? Mining right into an industrial would reduce the risk of ore thieves. Merged cans would create less clutter when you fill up a lot of cans of ore. Macros wouldn't be of any use anymore, and miners could focus on mining and chatting/interacting instead of dragging ore.
It would also allow for dedicated mining vessels (elite frigs/cruisers?) with reduced cargo space and increased output.

A really sweet Idea imo.. Especially if you add a skill to this, and maybe keep the door open on actual theft as a future feature. Also based on skills naturally.
Would add some really cool elements to the game,.
Naturally theft would only be posible at a range of say 500-1000km, and in flight this would require some fancy flying skills. but parked it could also add some fun to the whole afk mining thing. Afk mining is as much a problem as ore theft, and therefore I belive theft should be considered a part of the game to be worked on. Thus the thing could develop into an actual proffesion of sorts like pirate.
A lost more should be done on proffesions and that includes the criminal ones. Thieves is not just a bad thing, only because retaliation is impossible, is there a BIG frustration in the matter. Pirates also should be given the boarding option so they can actually steal ships when they are incapacitated.
Usually I am a carebear of trade, but in this area I also would vote a little for the criminals, they should not need to bend the game to have fun, but actually be considered a part of EVE life, just as crimes big and small is part of RL.
My 2 isk on that..

A simple gang option with a permisson pop-up box will be a good method of doing this.
Another otpion could be that you could simply treat an indy as a secure can, the indy operator just has to give away their password (however this means that they have to have a pop up for creating a password for it when they assemble it).
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |
