I know this doesnt nessessarly deal with eve itself but this is the second time Serious Sally's ENN website has tried to infect me with a virus. The first time was with the virus going around calling itself antivirus 2009 and the most recent was a trojan.
Is this site just easy to hack and thus people are uploading virus onto it or what? Not trying to start anything here but given that a eve fan site has tried twice to infect me now im more than a bit wary. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

I always said ENN was building up to a rather elaborate scam.

Have you contacted the ENN people? Because fat lot of good it does posting here except if you like bashing ENN.
Also I'd like to think that you got antivirus 2009 through a torrent site because that particular virus uses zlob to spread and will pop up randomly on you when browsing. I suggest you scan your own computer and make sure you don't have any traces of zlob or antivirus 2009. Lastly, people don't hack websites like ENN and upload viruses, not exactly how it works... --

Indeed, the very idea of websites being taken over to make use of a known bug in a browser is preposterous...or is it?

Uhhh, it is preposterous on a blog site which afaik that is what ENN is. I mean you don't download anything from ENN really so there is no real reason for this theoretical "hacker" to break into ENN and plant a virus.
It would be like going over to north pole and infecting a single polar bear with the flu. It sure is possible, but that's not how things are done really. --

But no one would suspect the polar bear and before you know it all of Canada would be infected with Bear Flu!

1. I am not bashing ENN. Up until my anti virus going off I had ENN in my quick links bar.
2. I am NOT going back to ENN to directly contact the site owners as all I had to do was go to the website and the anti virus went off hence why I am posting on a public site about the issue hoping that the individuals that run the site see this.
3. I don't even have bit torrent but I do know what the anti virus said when it went off both times. The first time was antivirus 2009 and the second was a Trojan.
Again I am not bashing ENN but at the same time I am not risking my computer to directly contact them. If you can supply me with a contact email on the other hand I would be more than happy to inform them that way. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

I use Firefox with NoScript active so I felt relatively safe, and I couldn't find a contact us link. I'm not bothering registering on the forums just to report some knowledge 2nd hand. And my mom and dad have nearly been infected before, with a version of that it starts as a Ad and asks you to install its software (it says you are infected first giveaway no advertisement has a place scanning your PC for viruses) and if you don't it will say you won't be clean if you don't install it, and you generally have to close the window, because it repeats if you don't, atleast thats how it nearly happened to my mom twice, it might have been antivirus 2008 but in anycase it was rogue antivirus.

blog site? "Watch out for Wordpress .htaccess hack:"
Linkage
Simple fix, too - just delete the offending material from the .htaccess file, and change your ftp and admin passwords.

Yeah I had that crappy antivirus XP 2009 problem too. It was easy enough to remove, it's the other stuff that comes with it that's a pain in the ass.
Is it just me or have viruses in general gotten unusually virulent this last 6 months or so? I had issues with 2-3 and my Mom has gotten several that I generally wind up cleaning up. _______________

I'd say it probably has more to do with the collective IQ of your average PC user dropping.

I don't think so. In the past 6 months I've had more issues with viruses online then in the previous 12 years, and I was rather careless downloading stuff when I was a kid too. Even my mom, a very computer literate person, has had multiple issues recently. _______________

Anytime Mom&Dad get a virus I just reformat the Anti Virus program we use doesn't seem up to snuff.
