you need it
And if you want to run more than 1 plex per day covops lv4, signal acquisition lv4 are minimum (and sisters scan probe launcher).

Originally by: Abyss Wyrm Without sift you will fly around plex all the day, never come closer couple of thousends km...
actually pursuit can give you warp to 0 to some easier plexes :)

0? How is that possible? I thought distance from the object had nothing to do with deviation.
Probes have MAXIMUM deviation. Minimum is 0. Thus if strenght of hit is high enough you can warp to zero to some plexes using pursuits (same as quests give you warp to zero to anomalies).

Oh? The signal strength determines the accuracy as well? I thought it only determined the likelihood of finding it.
Yup, it does. Especially when signal hits over 1,0 - then its "warp to zero".
Quote: The better plex, the lower signal will be. Ihad hard times even in highsecs (long time ago) to pinpoint to 0 plexes even with comb probes. And it often takes to spend 3-5 sift in 0.0 before you finaly pinpoint the plex.
I dont carry any comb probes myself (because highest deviation on quests is within pursuit range) so never could get those hits. I heard from friend he managed ot get to 0 on quests but dunno if it was bull or no.
As for 0.0 plexes 1-3 sifts my average (3 sifts for 10/10's).

But yeah if you want some quite easy isk - train astrometrics 4 + covops 4 + signal acquisition 3/4 + triangulation 3 + theotherskilliforgotnameof 3.
With this you should find plexes quite often. Add sisters scan probe launcher on top of it and you can pretty much make living off scanning and running hisec sites. c-type dropping sites are quite crap but if you find 3/10 or even 4/10 complex you can hope for atype frig mods or ctype cruiser mods which can give you from 30 (bad luck) up to 300-500mil (very good luck) per drop.
Problem is finding em tho - they are quite rare ;p

Need only for deep space ship scaning, and for portals... useless in exploration
I have read somewhere (can't remember where ) that lvl 5 astrometics will give you acces to deep space observator scanning probes that will not only scan down ships, but also hidden plexes....(hidden as in, not scannable with the usual quest - sift probes) anyone can confirm this?
its bull observators are "anti ship" probes and quite weak too. Their ONLY use is scanning 300AU+ safespots often used for supercaps.
