I'm looking for a solid nightmare pvp setup, without spending billions on it. This is what I've got fitted so far:
[Nightmare, pvp] True Sansha Heat Sink True Sansha Heat Sink True Sansha Heat Sink Damage Control II Power Diagnostic System II
Caldari Navy X-Large Shield Booster Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II 100MN MicroWarpdrive II True Sansha Heavy Capacitor Booster, Cap Booster 25 Caldari Navy Shield Boost Amplifier
Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Mega Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I
Core Defence Capacitor safeguard I Core Defence Operational Solidifier I Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Hammerhead II x5
Puts out decent dps (+1k), although cap unstable like hell. An active shieldtanking laser-based platform isn't rly ideal. There's a reason why most amarr bs are passively tanked since running active tank + lasers are kinda hard...
This is an alt btw, due to obvious reasons...

Maybe it's cap-unstable because you've got Booster 25 Charges loaded in your Capacitor Booster? But that might just be a typo for all I know....

I'd put a faction smart bomb and a nuet in the highs.
smarty gets rid of drones (Which can reduce you're incoming DPS by quite alot) and the nuet helps turn of the MWD or point on small ships. Besides, I'm never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down |

You didn't need to use an alt in this instance bro, nobody in their right mind would spend all the time and effort to pop you for a cheapo shield booster and a couple of 50 mill heatsinks if their lucky. Haleuth |

obvious reasons not obvious enough :) I didn't mean the mods but my general fit, unnecessary to make it too easy for my enemies to counter what I'm packing, if the urge would set it... |

That set-up makes me cry 8(.
Just a helpful hint bud. If you are going to use a billion isk ship in pvp. Use billion isk mods to fit it! and T2 rigs. Otherwise get a geddon.

Countering a Nightmare isn't really fit dependant... lol Just harden armor all the way against EM/Therm, screw your cap with neuts, and/or screw you totally with a healthy does of tracking disruption... And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...

don't wanna do that since it only takes one neut domi and all my fun is over. dunno if t2 cap rigs would make that world of difference.. although the ship is expensive, does it rly require countless billions to be efficient?
Edit: disregarding the price of the mods, is that setup generally good?

Edited by: Merin Ryskin on 21/12/2008 23:25:36 Silly people and your active tanks... if I had the billion ISK to spend on it, this is what I'd run (essentially a giant Phantasm):
[Nightmare, T2] Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II True Sansha Warp Disruptor
Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Core Defence Field Extender I Core Defence Field Extender I Core Defence Field Extender I
Hammerhead II x5 Warrior II x5
DPS and buffer of an Abaddon, but with 2x heavy neuts and active regen to take care of repairs between fights. If you've got the cash, fit CN/DG invulnerability fields, but for that price, I'd rather just buy another Nightmare. You can also fit a large remote shield booster if RR gangs are more your style. -----------

In before DHB Wil..... ah crap.
In any case, his Nightmare fit was something special. Took a whole fleet of stuff to make it go boom and even then, he took four of them down with him. Apparently if it weren't for the neut-domi he'd have sent the rest to hell.
Takes balls to solo in a multi-billion isk ship though, whichever way you look at it. My ultimate aim at the moment is to kamikaze a faction/officer Nightmare into stuff and screw the consequence. Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |

judging from battleclinic (holy **** wildcat you like expensive toys don't you?), his setup is almost like mine, apart from more expensive mods and his own tackle.
Good to know I'm not way off at least. |

My setup.
Was going to buy a better booster, but got that one for 1/4 price. That's probably the least expensive I'd go on a nightmare, although WildCat's setup interested me as well.
FAKEDIT: Replace one of the neuts with a nos, preferably meta14 (600m or something)

You sir, are very rich.
I guess why spend 1 bil when you can spend ten *sigh*. Awesome set-up... but when do you use a set-up like that in preferance to a geddon or something ?

any faction ship PvP setup without cloak is stupid, because you will die horribly to massive gank within first 10 fights.
And if you say that you PvP without cloak just fine, then you don't need a faction ship in the first place, as they make little difference in ganks.

I used it in conjunction with a Bhaalgorn in lowsec for a while until the pilot I was flying with quit the game, honestly I'd use a 'geddon over that in 90% of the situations I've encountered, but flying it into stupid odds is pretty fun; gets the blood pumping a bit more than losing a fully insurable BS.
Also, I've since removed the PDU for a lowslot ECCM, helps quite a bit.
