I appreciate that this has been brought up many a time to little avail. But I thought tonight, I would once again bring this up in a general environment (although it may be moved)in the hopes of getting some more attention.
A large fleet battle ensued today between the forces of the Caldari & Gallente Militias'
The Gallente fleet of close numbers jumped into the caldari camp. The caldari had drones out at the time.
Yet, A lag bomb ensued unlike anything I have seen in a very long time. I have been in countless fleets and I can rarely recall lag of this scale.
The Caldari lost most of their fleet, although they had a significant advantage, regardless of carefully targeting calling and effective use of split ECM and logistics. The Caldari fleet was lost due to extreme lag. yet, the Gallente, who jumped into a camp seemed to come out nearly unscratched.
how can that be? I have no doubt they had significant remote repping going on. But if most of the Caldari can not even lock more than one target, how can the Gallente fleet manage to keep up with spider tanks?
It's frankly not right. Countless players are loosing expensive ships and equipment due to an extreme failure on the server side.
CCP ask us to announce when planned fleet fights occur, well we militia members don't have that luxury.
I appreciate this is a common problem. But I don't take loosing 200 mill ISK in a lagfest as any type of enjoyable experience. Certainly not what we are paying for.
If you can reduce lag in Jita, reduce lag for planned fleets then why can you not simply do one thing. Allocate more resources to the OLD MAN STAR solar system to stabilize out large fleet engagements on a permanent basis. This seems to be one of the most frequently used systems for "pew pew"
I hope those that pull the string will at-least act on this simple suggestion to make this new Faction War BEARABLE on a larger scale.
Not everyone wants to run around in dull nano packs. Some of us like big fleet combat with battleships!
Please look into this. Many people are sick of the waste and then GM's not evan being willign to reimburse such unreasonable losses.

This lag has rendered my involvement in fleet battles to a single target which may or may not be effected depending on server voodoo. I have petitioned CCP for full reimbursement this time as the lag was worse than anything I have ever seen in Jita save 300+ ships outside station.

I agree with Kane, this was really a total joke. Why even have this mode of play available when it doesn't even work. I don't mind being destroyed in battle and having losses, but when I can't do anything at all but wait until my pod appears, is rediculous.

Indeed, but this time it comes with a suggestion. "more nodes for "Old Man Star" where the majority of the large fights take place.
If that was done, then we could try and limit our larger fights exlusivly to that area untill more solutions are available. It's like taking parecetamol.(sp?) not a sure, but it certainly makes things work a whole lot better.
It helps right? If we atleast have one place we can have these engagements it's a start.

This is the worst lag I have ever seen playing EVE. Even with much larger fleet engagements it was not this bad. My screen literally froze and I was unable to maneuver or target. It is very boring watching a frozen screen for 10 minutes and even more astounding is that the enemy did not seem to have this problem to the same degree. I am speechless really at this failure by CCP to provide services they say they are providing and constantly improving.

I don't care if I lose my ship in fleet battle, but to lag? That's just ridiculous. Especially when there were only 2 40ish ship fleets.

I think the main point is not that we lost ships. In PVP I can accept loosing a ship, it happens you loose move on. But at the moment you are fighting against the system. There is a system in place for fleet battles to be announced 24 hours ahead of time and transferred over to a stronger server, why not simply select 2 systems from each FW region, but these on those stronger systems and announce that these are the preferred system to PVP in. Perhaps this should be put before the CSM.

well, as much as I like it, I'm done with FW for now, there really is no sense to it, the servers just cant handle it.

move old man star perminately to a high end server ccp, or nerf drones so that you have to have locked a target to engage it.

You know, boosting up your response count with alts or people who don't know how to display their corp tag is a pretty poor way of holding up a turd of a topic that has been repeatedly regurgitated over the last five years.
So you have lag in your PvP, deal with it. Virtually everyone has lag. Apart from BoB! They have enough ISK to buy CCP's services

While I have no dog in this fight personally (I do not do Faction warfare stuff) I think the "bad" thing here was the server somehow giving one side a lag free battle while freezing the other side out. Sounds kind of weird but that is the sense I am getting from the posts above. If so there should be some way for CCP to ensure a level playing field (even if just making sure both sides are lagged to hell till the server sorts it out so no unfair advantage).

Yet again the Eve servers lag to hell with 80-90 ship fleet battle. What is the point of being in faction wars if the mechanics of the game cant handle things. We were promised a faster more improved lagless game play but things have gone backward, put things back to how they were 6 months ago.. please

Well CCP has spent the past several weeks telling us what great improvements Stackless IO, new hardware, and 64 bit has made to the Eve experience. Perhaps things have improved in large scale 0.0 battles (though reading the forums it sure does not seem like it) but for small (50-100 ship) battles in FW the lag is worse now than it was 6 months ago.
In my opinion, it makes this aspect of the game unplayable. CCP needs to hear (again, and again, and again) that the player experience they are so proud of still sucks.

We wanted a good fight, but watching your screen freeze is just lame. Are you suggesting that we have to pay CCP more money for decent frame rates? Is that how the gallente do it, by paying off cronies?

I agree with the others. I don't mind losing a ship in honest battle but when I'm so lagged that all I can do is sit there until I'm suddenly back in the station whats the point in playing the game? There has to be something CCP can do about this and they need to get busy.

Drones are part of the game, and CCP should consider this. What I was refering to is the comment that BOB somehow "have enough ISK to buy CCP's services "

I've been in a couple of these FW lagfests. Boy do they suck. I guess I forgot to turn off all brackets and other graphics to make it bareable.
Geez.. Something has to be done about this.. Goodluck with announcing Large Fleetbattles in Militia as already stated.

I've been in enough Gallente fleets that suffer exactly the same problems. So settle down a bit Caldaris. If we are desynched and can't target a damn we can hardly do anything either. Complaining to the CSM is probably best strategy.
