Edited by: Tyymm on 24/12/2008 00:43:34 Edited by: Tyymm on 24/12/2008 00:37:24 So i'm checking out Warfare drones, and I'm seeing some interesting stuff in EveMon.
A single Ogre (Sensor Dampener) can shorten sensor range by 25%. A tech 1 sensor dampener unmodified is 15%----30% with a script.
The ECM drone has a strength of '2' for every type. Tech 1 multispectrals have a strength of '2'. Tech 2 have a strength of 2.4
So am I seeing that a single EWAR drone is almost as good, if not equal to, the Tech 1 equivalent equipment? In that case, wouldn't 5 EWAR drones just wreck someone? Stick 5 ECM drones on a ship, and he's unlikely to target anyone anytime soon, right?
Not to mention, my drone range is much farther than any EWAR equipment....
Oh, one more thing, how does stacking work with Sensor Dampening drones? If I have 1 on, and it brings the target range from 40km to 30km (-25%), I presume the 2nd drone will bring it down to 22.5 (-25% more). Stick 5 of these guys on someone, and they're down to 10km range for targeting someone -- thats almost as bad (if not worse) than ecm on the bigger ships!
What am I missing here?

Not really, for two reasons. Stacking penalty and traveltime.
As you say in EVEMon and EFT they may look great, in practice they¦re rat¦s on sticks and your thrusting arm is injured.
If a damp is 25%, 5 of them will dampen them:

Edited by: Tyymm on 24/12/2008 01:12:06 Gotcha, so you're saying it looks good on paper, but in the end it kinda sucks :). Then again, isn't some EWAR dronage better than doing dps with them? I'm not gonna use tech 2's in PVP because I'm not waiting for them to come back.

On the FLIPSIDE, neutralizing drones are holy crap awesome.
Get a few Acolyte EV-300s on a ceptor or some Praetors on anything and their cap is over.
Seriously, the little bastards sting.

The only Ewar drones I consider using are webifier drones, Target painting drones, and ECM drones. However Their only used in certain situations. Mostly only ever think about using the TP drones and web drones on a raven (helps with your dps), and the ECM drones I some times fit on my vaga.
Their really not as useful as Their module counter parts, but when you need your mid slots their not a horrible choice...

It¦s all situational of course. I normally suggest people use ECM-drones up until the point where they can use Tech 2 drones.
That said there are situations where you¦d want ECM drones even with max skills and times when you'll want damage drones.
Another rule of thumb could be to ask your FC, if you don¦t have an FC go with ECM drones, if you can¦t ask your FC in time go with damage drones. Parrots, commence!

Wensley thinks they're great.

ECM drones are basicly a falcon alt without you actually having a falcon alt.
On a thorax/brutix for example, i think it doesnt really change the chance that you kill your opponent alot if you switch to ECM drones instead of dps drones. However there is a decent chance you can warp out when you notice that you arent going to win. ---------------------------------------------
