Edited by: Seth Rahr on 24/12/2008 02:12:34 I'm doing with my missions "thorax" and I found great difficulty in putting the enemy within my range, I'm using "light neutron blaster ii" and ammunition as "null s" which gives 25% bonus in the range.
I wonder if there is some other "hybrid" with a range greater or some other ammunition with a range greater bonus?
Now I thank all reply

You do know that in PVE that you can use drones and that rails exist?
sry i dont know how long you have been playing, but check market and hybrids, rails will solve you problems.
Plus upgrade to medium hybrids. You get a damage bonus to that.
Otherwise i dont know anything else, except that lvl 2 missions are rarely a prob, so play around with any fits that you want.

Has many ship fits, maybe not up to current patch, but you will get an idea how to fit a ship there.

If you read the description of the ship, it gives a bonus to medium guns. The logical path would hence be to use medium guns. You are using small guns.
Hybrids come in two shapes. Railguns and Blasters. You are using blasters - which mind you often is a very good choice. This is very rarely so for missions and the few occasions where it is a good idea it requires you - the pilot - to know what you're doing.
A thorax with medium railguns(Say, 250mm Railgun II for example) will have decent range even with shortrange ammo such as Antimatter M and you will always have the choice of grabing longer range ammo for the missions that require it. Parrots, commence!

Railguns are what you are after, they are hybrid weapons so you shouldn't have any difficulty training for them.
Here you are
If you're doing level 2 missions, a destroyer with lots of railguns will see you doing well imo.

Unless you've got some uber tanking setup on the Thorax or you're running level 1 or 2 missions you should upgrade to medium weapons. Read the descriptions of the available T1 hybrid charges to see which gives the extra range. Iron charge has a 60% range increase but drops your DPS by quite a bit. Also, use railguns not blasters if you want some real range.
btw can new subscribers create characters that start out with T2 hybrid skills now or something? I just find it curious you've got those skills but are asking these questions.

afaik you can start a new character of any race with small racial guns level 5 so you just need to buy the specialization book and train to level 1

I will change the "blaster" with "raiglun."
But only a doubt, I have in my med slots fitado an AB and 2 Recharge Cap II, but have seen some Fitings with a Webfier in place of a cap, you think it is worth replacing a Cap for a Web?

For "missions" I recommend using "railguns", not "blasters" on your "thorax". Of course, medium guns are a must, but you'll probably get an "optimal" of over 10km with "railguns", so the web isn't quite as useful. Use your Hobgoblin class "drones" to take care of mission frigates that run under your guns.

For L1 and L2 missions, medium guns are just not very effective, due to tracking issues.
150mm rails will serve well. And you want more than just hobgoblins. No rat species is weakest to thermal, you use thermal on the EM-weak opponents like Amarr Navy, Sansha, Blood Raiders (because EM drones are stupendously bad). For other enemy types, you're better off with other drones.

just sit about 30-40km off the enemy (AB out there if necassary) Launch drones get a cup coffe, go take a bio come back salvage wrecks (if you need the isk from it) turn in mission.
Works every time. for level 2's

Actually, for most of them you may well be better off with Hobgoblins. Just discussing the tech 1 drones, Hobgoblin I drones have a 1.6x damage modifier and do thermal damage. Hornet I has a 1.45x modifier with kinetic damage, Warrior I have a 1.3x multiplier with explosive damage and Acolyte I have a whopping 1.15 damage modifier with EM damage. Nothing is most vulnerable to thermal damage, but almost everything is more vulnerable to thermal than it is for the other two damage types. With Hobgoblin/Hammerheads, you almost always have the highest base damage against the second weakest resistance. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Dual 150s might be a good compromise, if fitting skills are lacking. They are medium guns, so use medium charges (double the damage at the same modifier) and give the Thorax bonuses - but they have similar range and tracking to 150s and are very easy to fit, leaving lots of room for modules that might increase effective damage. Obvious ones are magnetic stabilisers, but tracking enhancers of some sort might also help. ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."
