Automated banking software designed and released to anyone who wants it opens up a ton of new bank scam opportunities. Some of the strengths of EBANK and DBANK are that they have invested a considerable amount of time in designing and coding their banking websites. This means we have invested a lot of time into the operations. Someone putting the time and effort towards their business usually says a lot for their character.
Some of the best IPO/Bond offerings have been highly detailed documents, pdf's and Google Spreadsheet layouts. Services such as eve-files.com and eve-search.com have made Chribba a god amongst mortals. The Eve Online Hold'em client (it used to be Mavens but Selene actually spoke with the Mavens creator and convinced him to design the new one) and back end have a lot of work put into them. Whilst none are guaranteed, I would say the odds of a well documented and structured service/offering succeeding far exceed that of your regular bond/ipo offering.
Now I may have the wrong idea on what people are talking about as I haven't really read the thread properly but I am strongly against any form of inter-banking automated operation. That's not to say a bank teller can't work for multiple banks but they should not be using the same operational systems.
If an automated bank client were created it would come with it 50 scam banks, all looking as professional as the last without the 'investment' that the other banks have shown. |

You are right on some points, but i think you are missing something else on the issue of tellers. Sure if you guys are sharing tellers there would have to be trust between banks, and code could easily be written to check the correctness of transactions. But as noted before the barries are high, as it would mean sharing some internal information with a competitor. Sharing the same system as nothing to do with it, the teller could use a system that hooks into both ebank and dbank, but the risk would be the same. Conclusion, this can happen, but it needs a lot of trust between two banks.

This is true, it would open opportunity to both scams and legitimate bankers. Of cos it is in my interest to minmise the scams, BUT there is only so much i can do to stop someone determine to scam people.
I would TRY and vet any applicants to use my software (if it get written), and a rush of 'clone' banks would be detrimental to the eve-economy and trust in my software and banks that run it. It is a very fine line for me to maximize profit and retain people's trust. But in the end the onus is on the investor, i am merely enabling people to run scam / legitimate banks, the bankers will have to proof their worth!

also a play run automated banking system would be against the eula since it would invlove using a bot to pay witdrawls and as you all know automating any part of things in game gets a nice big ban slapped on you. That being said the only part hat could be automated is moving isk between accounts since it all just sits on one character really and that, as has been mentioned before, has been done already.

Maybe some player owned-npcs would fill in some gaps. Where the player/system could interact via the api, and pay ccp a monthly fee (much like a real character) but cant farm (either by mining or other means) or fly for that matter. Be bloody handy.

Im interested in your abilities to write a a semi automated web site. I would like the ability to post dividend payments from corps from the mails that get sent out every time they pay dividends.
The Program would have to be able to Look at the mail and determine : 1. the corp name 2. the amount of dividend payed 3. the frequency of payments (when was the last payment made) 4. Calculate the return on investment based on the price of the stock, the frequency of payments and the number of stocks that the corp has. 5. It must also be able to send me a mail with purchase/sale orders
If you can do that I would pay for the software in isk price to be negotiated.

uploading stuff in game while not in game would be very cool. Think I remember reading that maybe one day they wanted to be able to do something to do with eve on mobile phones things like skill changes but I don't remember where I read that. Pretty cool idea though it'd have to be an isk fee to an npc corp would probably be limited to corps too and come with a big fee but let members of the corp get the benefits of the play owned npc/api data do-dar |
