Excuse the dumb question, but what is the point of a jet can. I still have to make the same amount of trips. My cargo only holds so much. Why fill the can and leave it open for pirates.

Fill jet can up, return to station, get in yr indy, empty can, sell/refine ore, rinse and repeat.
Quicker than going backwards and forwards, of course that is if there are no ore thieves about!

If the jet can holds 7 times more then my ship then don't I have to make 7 trips to empty it. Is that not the same as making the trips anyway.

You shouldn't use the Jet cans until you have your industrial ship. Then they become useful because your Industrial can hold a couple cans :)

Edited by: Esab on 28/07/2004 06:23:29 Not really no...You have not said what you are mining in but its normally a frigate if you have just started out in the game. When you can afford an industrial ship you will find it easier to mine with your frigate and fill a jet can up (remembering to refresh the can on a regular basis of course). Then go back and fetch your industrial ship and you can empty the can in three or four trips depending on ship type and set up. Much quicker this way than going back and forth with your mining ship all the time. You could of course use an indy to mine but you cannot fit as many mining lasers as other ships can. And remember ....look out for ore thiefs!

Yeah, industrial ships only fit one laser at the most, and are very slow.
