I know cerberus and ishtar r the popular choices, but how about sacrilege(Amarr)? It s a missle HAC and it s speed s not low, wouldn't it be the best HAC to play PvE with??

Zealot is great against Sansha/Bloods, too.
I'm not familiar enough with the Sac to help you there, though.

i somehow have the impression that missle boats r genenrally better than gun boats against rats an npc(assuming similar level of sp in either, that is)....maybe that s wrong

Ishtar all the way imo. Can run plexs, can do lvl 4's, can rat without ammo/guns leaving room for salvage and lewt.
Also you can switch between armour and shield tank on it to suit the rat type.

I third Ishtar.
I think you might have to shield tank it to do the real heavy stuff though. I dunno, I've only ratted with it, tbh. Kindof a waste...

All depends on what you want to do. None of them is best for all kinds of PvE. Ishtar is indeed versatile, as is sacriledge and cerb. But Eagle, Deimos and Zealot will all be faster at their various kinds of rats. Muninn and Vaga are... well... best at very specific tasks but generally subpar - for PvE duties.
As for plexes the tank will become a tad more important, which means it's even more specific rat <-> hac. Parrots, commence!

Sac is an amazing tank, but its DPS is sh*tpoor on a good day. If you're going that route, you might as well save the ISK with a Drake.
Ishtar.

Damage is very well comparable to ishtar, higher on most, less on thermal, with less traveltime. Parrots, commence!

Because missiles are inherently ... not the best. And NPCs have a nasty habit of using Defenders like it's their job. Very easy to fit though, and you'd be almost guaranteed never to lose it because it can permatank just about any full-aggro.
However, the Ishtar is simply a juggernaut for its class. You can fit a decent armor tank with plenty of versatility for EW/guns/whatever. Or you can fit a monster shield tank and just AFK your missions. With proper drone skills, you can easily sentrysnipe missions like Gone Berserk and Blockade.
This really comes down to your skills and what will work best for you, but if you are asking which ship will run missions faster: Ishtar.

I liked the Sac ratting. The large cargo hold is great for loot.
I ran with 2 damage mods, hardeners, and a single repper in the lows. MWD and cap rechargers in the meds. I was able to permarun the mwd and repper and speedtank what i didn't rep. There's a spare high slow for the salvager.

Ishtar with Sentries is a good all-round ratting ship.
Zealot vs. Blood/Sansha FTW!
Sacrilege, good all-round and my personal favorite <3 ------------

Munnin worked great against Sansha. Although ammo usages w/ 425's was still high. Against Gurista an Ishtar is the best. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

Cerb is easymode ratting. It doesn't have the raw ISK/hr of the Ishtar, but you can just warp to belt @100Km and kite, kite, kite with your triple BCU fit. Works best against kinetic-weak rats, of course.
Being so far from the belt marker is good protection vs wandering ratter hunters.

The one thing the ishtar has is that it can be fitted with tractors and salvagers. Even if another HAC out DPS's it for PVE the Ish seems way more profitable

Deimos, A beast when it comes to gurista's, 3 mag stabs, full neutrons and still easely enough tank to take down the biggest 0.0 spawns.

Edited by: Jesslyn Daggererux on 28/12/2008 08:16:00 i use my ishtar daily and ill even admit to doing a couple missions. hey, i needed an agent to run locates. i never did 4s, just 3s. for what i saw, the ishtar was a kick ass ship for pve. for pvp i so far have never had a problem breaking someones tank, and only once have i ever been up sh*t creek. lucky for me, those particular nubs didnt believe in using scram, so i just warped off and back. i do have t2 sentries and not heavies yet, but damn. garde 2s can put a hurting on someone.
i use 3 med electrons, a small neut, and an offlined salvager (never know when you can come accross a t2 wreak) AB, disrupt, web, cap booster, sensor booster 2 EANM, 2 med reps, and dc.
aux nano and nano accel rigs
thankfully, caldari love to use kinetic. when they beat my 86.9% shield kinetic they get to have fun with my 91.3% armor kinetic resist. yea, youd think some would get smart and use explosive once in awhile. nope, have never once had it happen. 1035 tank vs kinetic, no drake is gonna kill me. not very fast but 423 is fast enough.

I tried the Sacrelege in PVE, just for "fun" once.. And allthough the dps output is ok'ish with HAMs, the ammo consumption is sick!
