At first my system data: Intel Core 2 Duo 6750 (2x 2.6GHz) Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX 4GB RAM Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit Service Pack 1 one EvE-client running in window mode (issue also appears in fulscreen mode)
While I play the game, after hours or even minutes, the screen starts flickering in intervals of about 3 seconds. It gets black, then it shows my actual desctop (including EvE), everything reacts to my input via mouse or keyboard exept EvE. I also have to add that while its flickering the colors of my desktop tend to be more blue and orange than normal. In this situation it depends on my speed to cancel EvE in one or two of this intervals via the task manager or alt + f4. If IŠm not able to do so I get a wonderful bluescreen (after about 4-10 intervals). When I get EvE down, therse one last black screen, and then everything is normal again. Well, not completely normal...when I try to launch any graphical application it crashes instantly leaving nothing but an Windows error "this program isnŠt reacting - close now?". Rebooting solves this issue till the problem comes up again.
I looked up the event viewer, where it says that in the moment the client is crashing the driver "nvlddmkm" doesnŠt response anymore and has to be cancelled.
I already read some threads, but none of them describes the problem I have. I also downloaded the newest drivers for all my computers components.
It doesnŠt matter if I use the nHancer or not, althougt IŠve got the feeling that with nHancer and all graphical things turned on the issue appears a little faster.
If you got an idea what the problem is and how to solve it I would be really pleased to read your proposals.

Make sure its the correct driver or even use the one that came with the card?
Does this occur only in Eve?

i'm also experiencing 'the flicker' and screen lockups but no blank screen
also during this time ( of flicker etc) wallet and transaction updates etc is very very slow.
this is a relatively new phenomenon maybe over the last 3 weeks or so.

Hmm then I dunno. I used Ubuntu and had my own issues (I use ATI) but I remember seeing threads about flickering, but not with Eve.
Wish I could be of more help, good luck.

I've had this issue myself, updating the graphics drivers resolved this.. vista doesn't always play well with older Nvidia drivers since SP1.
Try updating your drivers and let us know if that works for you or not. ____________________________ I break things.Ö

I have it with an ATI X1950 AGP, there's something new in the client that's overheating the Graphics chips, it only happens with EVE. Drivers are ATI's latest. 4gb RAM AMD 4000 x 2 X1950 Pro (AGP) It's only been happening the last 2 months, could run 2 clients same PC before, now only one on classic settings and even then it somethimes flickers. Granted my kit that was top of the line a few months ago would now not be out of place on the friggin Ark, but hey

How about an ATI problem that has been around for over SEVEN MONTHS? How about you give us great advice on how to fix that and explain to us why our bug reports about this issue are getting systematically ignored.

i've been sitting and watching my ship bob up and down in-station.
every 10 secs or so the screen locks up for 1-2 seconds.
every 40-50 secs the screen locks up to 10 secs or so.
i deleted the cache and now it only locks up every 10 secs or so for 1 or 2 secs.
the 40-50 sec lockup is gone, for the moment.
game is very difficult to play.

I've got exactly the same problem. Sometimes the error occures shortly after starting the game, other times after 20 minutes of play. The screen turns black and flickers, after that I get an error notice in the taskbar. It says that the display drivers produced an error and had to be restartet. Sometimes it happens 10 times in a row and only when I am docked at station! It's an EVE only issue and I installed different drivers also :( Another thing is that in that docked period my graphicscard get very hot! Any suggestions?

Try setting the fan speed for the graphics card to 100; EVGA card owners an downlaod precision; NVIDIA users can use rivatuner. I'm not aware of any ATI tools, but I'm sure they exist. GURU3D.com is a good site or this kinda hackery.

I've got the same problem but without crashes. When I play for a little while the game starts freezing in about 20 to 40 second intervals.
Only freezes for 1 to 2 seconds.
I've gotta believe someone knows what's going on. Right now it's a game killer for me and I'll be getting out as soon as my sub runs out,
Intel core 2 duo t9500 @2.6ghz 4 GB ram Windows ulitmate 32 bit svc pk1 dual Nvidia 8700M GT
I bought this comp specifically to play Warhammer online with, it's a pretty graphic intense game. She's got no problem running it at HIGH settings. It seems to me almost like a mem leak of some sort. |

While in-game:
ctl+alt+shift+m
This brings up a box that you can see memory usage etc. The memory you should be looking at is 'python'. If 'other' memory jumps up high then its not game related and you have a different problem. ('blue memory' is your installation memory and 'total' sounds like what it is )
While in game, also press 'esc' and under the graphics tab, choose 'interval 1'. This forces Eve to give fps at screen resolution rate only so it should prevent and undue graphics accelerarion causing overheating etc. Also, try turning off all extras under the gfx tab like explosion, effects etc etc to see if this helps too.

Erm... I dont want to play with a aircraft turbine in my room just b/c there's gone something wrong with coding ;) Also I got an ATI HD 4870 and I had tweaked my fan settings before. I really have no problems with heat or with crashing in other games than EVE. Dont tell me thats a driver or system problem :( |

Indeed, this might be related, but eve ctds on my new comp.
radeon 4870 512mb 500gb hd vista ultimate 64 q6600 2.4ghz 4gb ram
Its the only machine I have that eve ctds on.
eve currently sometimes flickers on my older machine. nvidia 7600 agp 512mb 40gb and 320gb hds win xp pro 32 sp 2
have to reformat that one tho.
Only one eve plays on currently without trouble that I know of is my laptop.

There's a known bug in both ATI and Nvidia's drivers that cause the "driver resets" on occasion. This is often caused by a dual monitor setup, and I have also experienced this issue before as well, although EVE seems to recover correctly.
ATI's new Catalyst drivers (9.1) seemed to have fixed the problem. I run an ATI Radeon 3850 HD, so it's modern. I'm unsure about Nvidia, although I've never had issues with that (Geforce 8500GT, an oldie by today's standards, but still works).
If driver updates don't work, cut down on the graphics on it, and perhaps check your temperatures with SpeedFan or another application, preferably either nTune for Nvidia chips, or the Catalyst Control Center for ATI. If they skyrocket, then something's up. EVE does put a great strain on the cards (99-100% load is typical), so they do tend to heat up. |
