Thats unfair perhaps. Theres much of great quality here BUT why is it that
1. If the zbuffer is left at 16 bits, Gallente stations suffer appalling tearing problems , BUT
2. if I use the .\cache\prefs.ini advancedevice=1 to enable a 24 or 32bit zbuffer, then, then gallente stations are cool but Amarr stations flicker madly!

No idea but they also said that changing your pref.ini with that command could cause your gfx card to blow up. You get the idea.
Id rather they fix the problem at the core instead of "overclocking" my software.

er, I would be very suprised if any of the options that advancedevice enabled could blow up the video card. Youre only in danger of that if you overclock the card, and the advancedevice options, for all their arcaneness are standard DirectX options and in no danger of causing any more harm than funny graphical glitches or shoddy performance.

You knew what I meant. And it is tricking your video card to functioning how it was not designed. So it sort of is overclocking software. More like tweaking.
And I didnt mean LITERALLY blow up, but it might who knows. Fry. Die. Cease to work. Require driver reinstall. etc etc etc.

er, no. zuffers are a standard feature. the video card is desinged to support 16, 24 or 32 bit z-buffers. Software - like EVE - chooses which zbuffer size is appropriate to its models, its a simple tradeoff of model complexity vs speed. If DirectX apps choose a small zbuffer then complex or far away models will visibly tear. If they choose a too large zbuffer, then there will be a needless loss in performace for no visual quality gain.

There is another graphics glitch that has occured with the latest Detonator drivers... Some stations half vanish!!!
Now I don't know if it it NVidia's fault or CCP's fault but I have to use the latest drivers to play Battlefield Vietnam. Other BV players have said the exact same thing so it's not my PC that's at fault here.
Anyone got any suggestions as to who is at fault here? -------------------------------------------
<Stavros> the first motor bike i ever rode <Stavros> was a honda gold wing <Ak-Gara> hah <Stavros> |

DırectX works by usıng the hardware for features ıt can support and software for what ıt cant. You cannot blow your graphıcs card up or overheat ıt unless
1. You have poor air flow in your computer
2. You use overclockıng software for your graphıcs card whıch ıs usually provıded by your graphıcs card manufacturer.
Your Tachyon Beam Laser I places an excellent hit on arkad [MOO], inflicting 702.3 damage.

Im having the same problem at times not really a big issue thgough cause the only time i spend in the bases is reloading ammo or unloading loot.. for the most part it does not bather me but i can see how a miner would find it severely anoying.
My card is a 5950 and yes with new drivers it happens more.. same goes for the disapearing billboards :P
