Is there a program I can use to test module fittings on ships, that will take into account my current fitting skills?
I'm sure I used to use one, but I can't remember what it was called (have come back after 2 years of not playing).
Thanks.

ExeFile.exe has ship fitting.

I once used QuickFit, but from what I understand, it's outdated. I now use Eve Fitting Tool and it works fine. _______________________________________ Pull a lever, push a button, have a banana, die.

You probably used QuickFit but from all I know it is no longer developed.
The most popular is EFT you can get it here (and I strongly recommend only to use the official download links provided in that thread since due it's popularity some other dl sources may have key loggers or stuff rigged into it)
If you are running a none-windows system you should give TightFit a shot, it's written in Java and will run on alternative operating systems but from all I know it's far from beeing finished. That one you can get on this little website ----------------------------- OMG THE SKY IS FALLING! Contract me all your stuff so I can save it! |

Gonna give a shout out to EveHQ
EveHQ
The ship fitting module is pretty tight...combined with the other modules I've pretty much given up on EFT and EveMon.

Edited by: Zhora Six on 31/12/2008 13:54:17 Thought I would check out EveHQ, so I downloaded the bloated 50MB file. I have to say that it's an appealing program, for having so many tools I'll never use. It really is a bit of a beast, though, so I can't say I'll take it over Evemon & EFT.
edit: I had to add that, once installed, EveHQ uses 194MB of space. _______________________________________ Pull a lever, push a button, have a banana, die.

Okay, that's interesting. Thanks for the info, I'll have to see if I can figure that out... _______________________________________ Pull a lever, push a button, have a banana, die.

I appreciate all the tools people have put out and I am a fan of EFT and EVEMon and EMMA. However, EVEHQ really fills the bill all around. I prefer the fitting in it (though it has a few functionalities I'd like to see improved and it doesn't seem to pull from DBs of existing fittings like EVEMon... I don't htink). I also really like the skill planning system. No to mention the corp tools and asset tools (though I use EMMA for my trader/business/manufacturing work).
It's really not that much of a bloated program - though perhaps for systems that are not your main system (ie, laptops, work machines, etc) you might just want evemon and EFT. Good enough. It's even for me to have Parallels installed with an instance of windows running in it just so I can use these tools. -- What's your EVE New Year's Resolution for 2009? |

Upon further investigation...
EveHQ uses 200MB mem + 200MB v-mem with everything enabled - disable everything but the fitting tool and it's 100MB + 100MB. That's compared to Evemon using at most 30MB + 30MB and EFT using 5MB + 5MB. Then there's the difference in CPU usage...
EveHQ is a really nice program, but that's a lot of resources to be using. I'm not saying no one should use it, but I think it's worth pointing out the noticable difference in the demand it puts on your system. I might use it, but not while I have Eve running. _______________________________________ Pull a lever, push a button, have a banana, die.

Ya. Don't think that the numbers it spits out are exactly how it will pan out when using the fit, but it's a very good guide. ----------

Ehq Fitter is being vigorously tested for accuracy in game and differences between the Fitters results and actual are being fine tuned.
I am currently helping Vessper, the developer to test Passive Shield tanking and fleet warfare bonuses. There are varies discrepancies between Eft output and Ehq/in game results now.
Note that testing is ongoing and changes are not all patched in yet.
The great thing about Ehq is that if you find any bugs or inconsistances, a quick post on the forum will have Vessper address it, usually within days if not hours, the program has a built in patcher.

Interesting, that definitely weighs in EveHQ's favor.
I was just testing it out more and discovered that you can easily import EFT fittings, which is awesome! Then I tried to enable the display of the additional columns in the fitting tool (ex - PG, CPU) and I got this:
EveHQ Error Report
EveHQ Version: 1.8.3.232 Date: 1/1/2009 3:33:54 AM Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Stack Trace:

Once I restarted the program, everything displayed properly, so I guess it's a minor issue. _______________________________________ Pull a lever, push a button, have a banana, die.
