Originally by: Dun Bynar For the majority so far, pirate is a broad definition covering petty criminals, low life noob killers and merc corps to skilled solo privateers who have amassed huge fortunes for the most part alone, and solely from ransom and booty?
Can you be more specific? "Petty Criminals"? "Low Life Noob Killers"?
By "low life noob killers", you kind of paint with a broad brush, yet you inject your own personal opinion that these pilots aren't getting the job done. (I'll bet you hold "The United" in that group, however, I'm sure they shoot/kill mostly everything that comes their way, so I definitely wouldn't put them in that group, personally.)
In my opinion, all of the groups you've identified (and hell, even the ones you've missed) are doing two things - getting the job done, and enjoying what they're doing at the same time.
petty criminal: small, poor, and non thinking person who etches out a living at small criminal activities a very unsaviory char. noob killer: one who searchs for toons of low skill and skill point for the express purpose of killing them, and those who have yet to learn adaquate low sec pilot skills..it provides a sort ego boost , they like easy kills done by blobbing noobs. they can usully be found in the 0.4 regions of space just exiting noob training grounds...especially those areas that are fast travel routes from one hi sec area to another as for getting the job done....that depends on your perception of what a pirate is. I suppose im a bit of a romantic.... if I were a pirate, i would prefer me targets to be those of experiance, and large portions of greedy type char flaws mixed in....they forget the time honored rule of never fly what you cant afford to lose.....and so if I were to relieve them of some of that extra iskies they have just laying about in empire banks collecting dust....well lessons learned:P aggravation for no other reason than grief has no...isky value, and each round fired for it is a financial loss. Further if i had a pirate alt his intire fortune would be compirsed of looty booty!
This whole thing is pretty stupid.

Originally by: Dun Bynar well i do appreciate your litirary expertice, perhaps you would difine point by point so I might become enlightened by your profound cumulative wisdom.
point by point is too much :effort: for me but basically if you stuck to all those criteria you'd probably only get like one kill every six months. Also, ironically, I seem to remember you saying how disgusting the lofty trick was, yet it fulfills nearly all of the aspects of your romanticised vision of piracy.
