ISSUE : Speedtanking Plexes
CONCERN : Unfair balance for different factions.
There is a serious gameplay imbalance in the Plex capture game mechanic for Faction Warfare. Specifically for the Amarr Vs. Minmatar division. I can not speak for the Gallente or Caldari sides.
The major imbalance is that a solo Minmatar player can solo and speed tank the NPCs in an Amarrian plex with a T1 Frigate. Meanwhile, and Amarrian Militia pilot capturing a Minmatar plex requires 2 pilots minimum, and tech 2 equipment.
CAUSE?
The cause has to do with the NPCs. Let's review what the different NPCs get for Electronic warfare?
Amarrian - Tracking Disruptors
Minmatar - Stasis Webifiers Target Painters Energy Neutralizers on some Battleships
I think it should be pretty obvious the cause. With Target Painters, Webifiers and Energy Neutralizers, the Minmatar NPCs have a serious advantage against the smaller ships. The Amarrian EW effects are limited and weak, and tracking disruption does not affect speed tanking.
It has become COMMON practice amongst Minmatar militia to go into an Amarrian plex and speedtank the plex with a Vigil orbiting the timer. This is all but impossible for Amarrian Militia members.
Not to mention, these major plexes should be team efforts, and not solo efforts.
-POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS? -- Give Amarr NPCs Energy Neutralization!! It's what we DO! -- Give Amarr NPCs Stasis webifiers. Not only the Minmatar use this technology. -- Consider alternate NPC types like turrets which are easily destroyed by a team, but can be difficult for solo players to remove. -- Other suggestions?

Edited by: Xavier Zedicus on 31/12/2008 03:43:16 All npc's everywhere are broken.
for instance, webs are now half as effective yet 2 frigates in a mission can take my BS down to 1.2 m/s |

I agree with the guy above me. NPC's and thier ai are both in dire need of revision.

I agree. There's a big difference between minmatar and amarr npcs in plexes, as far as i can tell. The amarrians are quite easy to speedtank, not so the minmatars who spam missiles and use target painters. Some more energy neuts and some webs in amarr plexes would help a good deal on this problem IMO
A general improvement of the NPC AI would be most welcome, we can all agree on that for sure ;)
I wonder if the caldari and gallente NPCs are just as unbalanced in regards to each others?

from a RP perspective its sort of true... amarr have slow but powerfull ships yet the matari have fast ships that pack a punch, but thin as paper when it comes to tanking. Cheers, Faros

This is true, but at the same time the Energy neuts are amarrian tech, there is no reason why some of the amarr npcs shouldn't have them.

Amarr NPC's do neut, and there are some BS that one -shot speed tanking ceptors.
Speed tanking tho, should be removed altogether. Webbing towers with insane range should do it.
More important, worth mentioning again: the downtime factor.
While you're at it, give out LP's for VP's so people actually care about plexes, other than hardcore RPers who really want to capture systems.
tho given the amount of plexes the amarr cap, I don't think they actually have any issues with it.
