Anyone seen and fixed this issue:
Whilst in space the client suddenly hangs and either closes or will not close. Even when it has closes the client is still in task manager and then if you try and restart EVE the whole PC crashes.
It happens with both a single client or two clients running.
I am running Vista 64bit Home Premium with the following kit:
DFI LanParty DK P35-T2RS motherboard Q9650 Sapphire 4870x2 Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 2x Intel X25-M SSD 80gb
I have raised a bug report but there is not much more detail to give. This happens without fail between 5 mins and 1 hour of playing.

Done more testing and it only crashes in windowed mode. Both premium and classic versions crash. |

Originally by: Maggot if you try and restart EVE the whole PC crashes
Does it crash, like bluescreen, or does it freeze?
I have the same problem, client not responding, trying to relaunch eve = freeze. I cannot restart my system normally with, uhm, normal restart option in windows menu. It just doesn't shut down my system, have to press the reset button everytime.
But if I have teamspeak running, it is still working after the my screen froze. weird
I also play in windowed mode. My system is Asus striker II NSE Intel q9550 Radeon HD 4870x2 2x 2GB OCZ DDR3
Seemed to me the problem appeared with one of the last patches. |

This is EXACTLY what I experience. TS and any other programs still run. Requires pressing the reset button on the PC to force a reboot.

If other programs are running ok but the screen isn't refreshing then it's likely a video driver crash (odd that you have to reboot though as Vista normally recovers from video driver issues).
Try an earlier version of the Catalyst drivers (or update to the latest ones if you haven't already).
might wanna check the event log to see if there's anything listed in there too. ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

Edited by: Stalina on 07/02/2009 12:53:05 Event log shows me this : "application popup" \SystemRoot\SysWow64\drivers\pfc.sys could not be loaded because of incompatibility. This error appears randomly on the eventlog without anything happening, but my screen only freezes when running eve. There are like a few seconds between this popupthingy and the hard reboot in the eventlog.
I googled for pfc.sys and this kinda control drives or something, anyway it is necessary.
Ill go on trying new ati drivers and reinstalling eve.

Yeh I already tried fullscreen, same results.
Also did I install new GFX drivers and install a fresh version of EVE. Worked perfect the day I installed it, one day later I am back to the freezes
Also the sun seems to be flickering from time to time. |

Edited by: Stalina on 11/02/2009 19:26:55 Ok weird that is now...
Previously I used window mode in 1920x1080 resolution to get the full client onto the sreen. My Native screen res though is 1920x1200, once I set window mode resolution to 1920x1200 the client keeps crashing, but it DOES NOT freeze my system. I could restart the client directly without any freezes 3 times now.
I also get eventlog messages now ( but they are in german ) :
Quote: Fehlerhafte Anwendung ExeFile.exe, Version 5.20.1.5197, Zeitstempel 0x4933d143, fehlerhaftes Modul atiumdag.dll, Version 7.14.10.636, Zeitstempel 0x496d6d9d, Ausnahmecode 0xc0000005, Fehleroffset 0x0004ad03, Prozess-ID 0xd58, Anwendungsstartzeit 01c98c6df7ddbc19.
Exefile and atiumdag.dll seem to cause the problem.
only problem now is the borders around the client, it does not fit completely. and the client crashes...

I have exactly the same problem, I've tried running the log server so I can send a bug report and it shows nothing when the game crashes.
Cue sad 4870x2 panda here
