I admire people's resourcefulness when comes to skills. I recall threads from implant changes till more radical ideas like experience bonus.
I would like to introduce you the PSEX = Psychotic Extermination... oops me and my sense of humour. As I was saying, I would like to introduce you the PSEX = Pilot Skill Extension. You want some skills? You contribute to research for a better playable environment and less lag. 15 Euro for 7 days of instant skill training is more than enough, I believe.
Your thoughts?

Um, no. Buy a few GTC, sell them for ISK. Take said ISK over to the trade forum, and buy a character you like.
It's already too easy to buy anything you need in game for RL cash.

You must be a teenager (or an adult still psychically anchored in his "youth"). Really people, don't get all sprung up and wanting to chase up to the older characters all of the sudden. They also took their time getting there and so should you (as should I, too).
It's like with the tomatoes. You can grow ones to adult size in a nitrate fertilised soil and a greenhouse within a month, but it will taste awful, compared to the usual outdoor grown tomato that took four months to mature. ---

Or, you can buy ready grown tomatoes from the supermarket as has already been suggested by someone in this thread.
If you want to spend rl cash on skills, buy a character. I recommend not as it has pretty much killed EvE for many people I know that have done it.

I fully support this idea, and I would actually like to take it further. It would be nice, if rather than us rich people having to actually exhibit any skill at the game, or even play it for that matter, we could just pay CCP a few dollars, and have enemy ships explode without us ever having to use weapons. This would make the game much fairer since people who are rich in real life can become rich in game too, and we get to have more fun than everyone else because we are better than them IRL.

Don't take it personal. It's just that ideas about skill training are being brought up very often and many 'older' players are quite touchy when it comes to that topic.
The general concensus is that RL money shouldn't bring you too much direct advantage over other players. It is debatable whether or not buying/selling GTCs and characters reduces that concept to absurdity. I guess the thing is that buying/selling GTCs and characters can result in a direct advantage/advancement but can also be used in a different, originally intended way, while a 'pay for skills' service will do nothing else that that, give your character more skills.
-edit- In case you really wanted to troll, consider this posting my new-years gift.

Hell no.
That's all we need... kids throwing gobs of money at EVE to uber-up to insane skills.
EVE remains to be unique to all others by requiring you to choose your time wisely... just like the rest of us in game.
It's bad enough we got macro'miners screwing around the system with GTC's and what not... we dont need an another route for skill training. =============== CEO of Clan Shadow Cadre www.shadowcadre.com =============== |

There are two kinds of people: *Those who have been waiting for more than two years to raise some decent combat skills of ship & pod losses waiting for the moment, "yep it's my time for payback and fill my killboard", *and those who are training EVE characters to sell them for profit, its an industry out there.
PSEX will desroy them both
I am against none of them. I merely added an idea.

Manos,
I merely pointed out that a simple no isn't enough to post in a topic as the person i quoted did. I really can't be bothered anymore to discuss the subject. I'm fully against your system though. Paying for skill training is just not right. People that can afford it will do it. People that can't or don't believe in it will be held back.

Adonai, I respect your view and your word you said you didn't want to discuss it any further. Permit me, though, a handhold from you to answer. I trust people and I trust the way market works (nope, I am not liberalist). We both know that the subsrciption fee to play the game and write freely on forums is 15 Euro for the timespan of 30 days. Considering my system above, training the time needed for a month will take (30/7)*15=64,2 Euro + 15 (subscription fee) = 79,2 . Who is crazy enough to do this . Besides, think the perspective of selling it for isk. I assume a price of 600 million isk till a nice plummet with a variation of 70 mil isk (?) plummet. For that reason, everyone can buy this.

It's called 'buying a character'. The GP's example is still valid.

But just as 'Hooded Person' pointed out, money should never be a means to get superiority in a game. Thats why the game companies, out of self interest, dislike and even ban people who sells ingame items on e-bay or whatever.
(We have the GTC/Plex and thats enough of a greyzone in Eve, but I support it as a means to transfer ingame currency for playing time. Since I think its the lesser of two evils. Ie: Selling and buying ISK directly to the farming and spamming hoarders.)
(And then we drag you down to the specially equipped room to carry out that Psychotic Examination you mentioned. )
Is it a new forum rule. That for everyone posting something you don't agree on. You should accuse them of being a troll? ;) |
