Upon trying to entger Jita while locked I was ganked and podded! lost Implants - full Standard set
This is an problem because in an shutle jumping to Zero I am supposed to make the jump to jita faster than an pirate could target, the problem was that the gate was locked and I was an sitting duck. I received no warning about jita gate as I entered New Caldari nor was I protected from being locked on by the closed gate. What is worse, the message telling me the gate is locked because of traffic I mistook as an message about the lock on me. LAG further my reaction speed and thus was podded also. I tried yet again to jump! missed the 1st message about Jita being locked.
Most ships should make the Jump, even the pod could make it easy, was it not for the locked gate. I would suggest that incase gates are locked that as protection in 1.0 system the ability to lock for 400km around the gate must be removed. Another way is to broadcast an warning before entering the system (New-Caldari/Sobaseki etc) that certain exit gates (Jita) is locked - are you sure to enter this system? Where positive answer would then allow the character at his own risk. My Principle in this is that CCP nor Game Masters can at no time cause some one to lose ingame items / life etc!

Trying to enter Jita????
Who killed you? I'm afraid it wasn't the GMs that caused you to lose your stuff but whoever shot at you.
Were you at war at the time?
The gate was probably "locked" due to massive server load so if you don't want that to happen, don't go to Jita.

Edited by: Creme Fraiche on 31/12/2008 08:46:17 Truly problematic, the "Jita situation"
One idea would be letting old players in first, might be tricky to sort out codewise.... Yeah, I am aware of that it would not solve the issue with too much people in Jita but at least some sort of justice ;p
Another idea would be that you have to state your business in Jita and then you are given a certain amount of time to do that business, after that you are kicked out. For example: "Fetching a ship", gives you 5 minutes. "Selling an item", gives you 5 minutes. "Trading", gives you 8 hours.
With those choices, if you pick "Fetching a ship", but you are in fact going to trade then you are kicked out after 5 minutes are up. If you pick "Trading" and Jita is crowded you won't get in.

you dont need to stay in jita to trade you just need to drop off your goods there then you can remote trade if you have the skills marketing and procurement.

The simplest most effective way of fixing Jita has been overlooked time and time again.
CCP PLEASE TAKE NOTE.
Use your EXISTING idle checking to drop connections to players who are AFK for 20 or more minutes in Jita.
There are literally hundreds of players who login 5 minutes after downtime and do nothing until they get booted off again the next downtime. These chars might during the course of the day check a market price or a few contract prices 2-3 times tops. BOOT CHARACTERS AFTER 20 MINUTES OF INACTIVITY, when they log back in, make them choose a neighbouring system like Perimeter.
