Tank is one of the best an the most original of the first pirates of Eve. He understood the game mechanics long before most everybody else and his victims paid the price for that. CCP changed the game to try to counteract his tactics and still they couldnt stop him.
Like the Corp MoO, you never got any worthless and pathetic chat in local, he never insulted you, he just quietly and efficiently killed you, looted your wreck and went in search of the next victim.
He only killed me the once (in Misaba - he showed as in station so I made a quick dash for the gate and there he was .. my first ever Omen lasted less than 10 secs). I met him after that when I was deep space mining arkenor (no warp to zero back then and no 0.0 stations. you made BM's 12-15km behind each gate in either direction and it would take hours to make the round trip) and he was ratting. He was polite in local, didnt attack me when he saw me etc. From then on I sold him and his corp the minerals from each trip, I made my isk and he got new ships.
These days pirates aint worth the price of **** in comparison to Tank and boys from MoO.

Tank CEO ganked some 2000 people at Sarum Prime when it was low sec and then got beaten bad by someone in a combat fitted industrial. That's all you need to know really.

Anyone who's played eve for a long enough period of time knows who these people are, what they did and has an opinion. The opinion isn't always good mind you. Garmon is still too recent to really count but he'll be on that list.
Infamy gets you remembered for far longer than fame. Being perceived as an asshat makes you stick in the memory more than being randomly nice.
Chribba is perhaps the only pilot to be almost universally adored, everyone else splits opinion in the extreme. Personally, whatever your own opinion, the game as a whole is better for having such characters.

Tank CEO isn't anymore as he was before. He stated he was going to quit piracy or atleast bring his security status back to 0.0 - He WAS a good pirate. Couldn't adapt to the new changes.
he is just another player - only thing is that people think he is the god of pirates & he thinks he is the best himself.

Back in the old days people used the bounty system in just that way. So yes it was random people. People did used to spend what would be the equivalent today of tens and hundreds of millions bountying people. And it wasnt that common to see people podding themselves as for many it was a 'badge' to be proud of.

Do you have a macro running 24/7 that does eve-searches for the term "Chribba" and gives you alerts every time or something? I have never seen your name even mentioned without you showing up within 10-20 posts, usually more like 2-3.

Tank CEO was involved in that epic video/audio where a random noob whines that others have linked. That alone is epic.
People say he is a great PvPer/pirate but really he only did that when the game was new and the game mechanics were being changed to give the game some semblance of balance. Once they took tank ceo's iwin button away he went emo and quit and only whines and *****es on the forums now. As an almost 3 year old player all I have ever seen is tank CEO whine on the forums and kill macro haulers, whoopie. Way overrated.
