Alowishus	Posted - 2004.07.22 07:55:00 - [1] So, like everyone, I hate giant roids that slow your ship to a crawl. Tonight I had gotten done killing a 750k rat and as I went to get the loot I got stuck between two roids. Bah... happens all the time. But this time a spawn appeard, a 500k, a couple cruisers and scrambling inties, right on top of me. I started moving AWAY from the spawn, deeper into the belt, and toward an object I could warp to. I hit my MWD. Little did I know that even with my MWD my top speed would only be 4m/s. I tried changing direction, by this time I was scrambled. With the MWD running my cap was 1/4th capacity, I hit my dual large repairers. I was able to last for a little bit, still scrambled and still not able to move. Finally my cap was gone and they were into my structure, seconds later it was over. Now I realize I'm mostly to blame. I could have had some drones out. I could have gone back to the station and gotten a frig (knowing the loot was in such a precarious place), hell I could have even ignored the loot and gone to the next belt. I also could have not used my MWD as much and had more cap for my repairers, or fit close range weapons for the interceptors... The list goes on and on. I've had the ship for a long time and made it out of a lot of bad situations, I'm bummed about it, but I'm not complaining. I know it's my fault I lost my ship. I'm just sharing my story so others can learn from my classic rookie mistakes. Raven 4TW! Rank(1) SP: 243745/256000

Aneu You can get a ship back you lost 'cause of being stuck on a 'roid ? insane, roid stickiness is a feature. It's one of the few risks of hunting left.

Archa	Posted - 2004.07.22 08:37:00 - [7] that's insane, You should not be able to get isk back due to being stuck on a roid. CCP can never confirm it. I've lost so much wich could not be confirmed and yet they can somehow see that you were stuck on a roid? sounds fishY:)

Alowishus	Posted - 2004.07.22 08:47:00 - [9] I already gave the insurance money to my corp for a new ship. While it would be cool to have my ship back that's not really the point. I get bummed out because I make mistakes that lead to losing ships, not the ship loss itself. Getting the ship back will not take away the fact that I made a mistake that cost a Battleship. I was picking up a load of ore to haul back to station and got hung up on a couple of gargantuan Veld roids when, of course, a group of rats spawned less than 15k away from me... there was absolutely nothing I could do either. Becuase of this then people should adjust their strategy to the terrain and not complain if they stuff it up. I applaud Alowishus for such a mature attitude in his situation. I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century.
