If you would like to contract Goonswarm against these people, please contact me. We will defend our honor ferociously. If we don't succeed, we have rituals where we commit seppuku with our ships, to restore our broken honor.

I'd like to see that done with a Raven. Do you run into it or just let it flatten you?

SO much bitterness from the OP
I think ABP's clients are a better reference than some random alt butt hurt about handing over 3bil.

But merc clients aren't typically vocal about results.
Taking isk without results is a scam. Regardless of how bitter the OP might be, who would trust the involved merc corps/members now? Not a bad small time scam but it means the corps and members aren't mercs.
The amount of isk isn't the issue. The issue is that the one thing a merc corp has is trust with a contract. Without that it isn't a merc corp and devalues all merc corps.

Some merc corps charge by the kill, others charge flatter rates. There are good and bad points to both:
Upside of flat fee: easier to fund replacement ships if things go bad during the contract. Downside: client may feel ripped off if the contract targets remain docked throughout the contract.
Upside of per kill: less loss for the contractor if the targets stay docked. Downside: can easily result in minimal profit for the merc corp.
Mercenaries can't make anyone undock, after all. Art of War and ABP are both well-regarded last I heard, despite Kublai having pulled off a couple of pretty awesome scams. But IIRC those scams had nothing to do with combat contracting.

He was hiring Art of war to fight ABP. Dealing with kublai, a known scammer is bad for the wallet. How this translates to ABP being scammers, I don't understand. Didn't the guy even check to see who Dave was in the convo.

I agree that ABP is getting unfairly lumped in here.
Scammer or not, this reflects poorly on AoW if they intend to merc in the future.
In a round about way cases like this also hurt all mercs. For example take pirate ransom. Ransom devolved from a tradition to something that few trust. This hurt the ability to pirate and make isk off of anything but the loot that happens to drop. So if the perception of trust for mercs drops then fewer clients will be willing to turn to mercs to handle conflict resolutions.
Personally I think the op is a few short of a six pack.

I agree completely, I was only defending ABP. However I doubt AoW are concerned about the issue, as scamming is part of their portfolio.
It wont hurt genuine mercs, as everyone knows who the good ones are, back when I was merc myself (yes this is an alt) we didn't need to advertise. Word of mouth was good enough, and we were inundated with requests. For example if someone asks me for mercs in game on my main I will politely tell them we are no longer in the business, then I will point them to ABP.

WOW, THEY MUST BE SCAMMERS, AN ALT SAID SO!!!!
Uh, seriously its a good thing your hiding behind an alt since you would look like a complete dumbass for not showing any proof of anything.
Proof = people might actually think you're onto something
no proof= people think your stuffed with something
is linking fail to another thread of fail go to result in anything other then fail? I doubt.
