For those of you who haven't tried it out take a peek at the new space sim Starshatter and download the demo.
Gave it a whirl over the weekend and it's verrry nice for a game from a small-time developer. Features Newtonian space flight, dynamic campaigns, command of fighters/frigates/carriers, space and planetary flight for fighters, etc.
Oh, and the game is very much moddable. A mod for my favorite show Babylon 5 is already in the works, in the form of Babylon 5: Hold the Line.

This one isn't a MMORPG though, rather single-player and co-op. However, note that a REAL dynamic campaign does wonders for replayability (ala the old flight sim Falcon 4.0).
Perhaps someone could mod some space-elves and -faires into the game as well...

I can remember Starshatter being mentioned on the I-War forums years ago, if memory serves me correct it was the work of one man, Milo, over a very long period of time...
It's been a while since I looked at it (there was a demo a year ago) but it was looking pretty impressive back then.

Yeah, all they'd need to add to that is space dolphins and it would complete a triad of things I hate the most in the world, for me to blast.
