Hi!
I have a HD4870 GPU, 4gb ram, CD2 E6750 CPU, X-FI Titanium Soundcard, 150gb WD Veloraptor HDD.
Sometimes, when I minimize the game, to do something, post on a forum or whatnot, like I am now, and then I maximize the game again, the game will for some reason run at low FPS, if I bring the FPS meter up, it shows 20-30 FPS, and the game is rather sluggish and moving the camera around is slow.
If I minimize the game and maximize it again a few times, the game will 'fix' itself, and begin running at 50-60 FPS again, i've tried enabling V-sync, turned it off, etc, doesn't do anything.
Is this a known issue, are there any workarounds / fixes? is it going to be fixed?

This would appear to either be a RAM problem or a HD problem, Your GPU is GDDR5 and will be able to quickly move cached data to its ram very rapidly. You conventional RAM might not be as fast, what speed is it running at? : 667, 800mhz?, usually upgrading this will improve it if that is the problem. The otehr side it could be because of the size of the HDD, 150gb isnt very big in todays standards and if the game has to use the pagefile for whatever reason the slow speed of the HD and its size will limit this. Is the hard drive over 50% full? or is it highly fragmented?

900mhz DDR2 RAM, HDD is newly formatted and only recently had Vista installed with EVE and a couple other games.
I can't seem to make the connection between this alt-tab problem and FPS being 'stuck' at a slower rate when alt tabbing and then fixing itself when doing it again?

Well what it is is the data and rendering info is not being put back into RAM or VRAM or the pagefile so it will render data at a much slower rate without it, hench the fps drop as it does not have a full memory slot to store stuff. Little that can be done, maybe running EVE in high priority mode might sort it. Other than that i cannot recommend much, i have experienced this problem with other games and could only keep alt tabbing to restore the memory allocation. Try turing the cache off or up to max on the game and see if that sorts it. Might just have to live with it

Tried changing the cache to max, normal, low, and off, still getting this problem where it get's stuck in low-FPS until I minimize and maximize it a few times. any help would be greatly appreciated

I could also try scooping my eyes out with an icecream scooper and dipping them in acid but that doesn't really solve the problem.

I don't want to run in a window, though.
