Im not understanding the current (or historic) price of synths. It appears that the price ranges between 1.5 and 1.1 million per unit. For a 30min 3% boost I dont see the point, who is really going to pay that? I have kept an eye on the market volume and it doesnt seem to be moving in my region. So, again, whats the logic? How much do they cost to make? After all you can get hardwired from LP in a handful of missions and get the same bonus...I beleive.

They don't sell fast. They don't sell well. Even at 1.1-1.5m PU, they're nowhere near worth the profit for the amount of work involved in making them.
Some people do use them occasionally, for important fights and whatnot - but most folks making them are just doing so out of sheer bloodymindedness at this point. ----------------

Another item that they were afraid of, so they nerfed it into oblivion in advance, same as a Black Ops or a bomb. I understand why they do it, but I really wish they'd find a middle ground. - Lotto - Paladin! Cruiser BPC Store |

Flooding a region with 900+ units of something that doesnt sell and is almost worthless seems more stupid than bloody-minded to me. After all dont synth use alot of the same materials as the good stuff? If Im right than there is basicly no real incentive to produce them at all. Since they both have to be made in low sec anyway. Seems like a great way to run a drug corp into the ground.

1. You have to mine in low sec. =Doesnt happen 2. You have to run a pos and everything to react it all. Which is painfully annoying. Which counterpoints to low sec once again. Meaning risky.
I think the boosters are fine how they are,
They just need to bring alchemy and synth booster reactions into high sec. ------------------------ To make a megathron from scratch, you must first invent the eve universe. ------------------------ Life sucks and then you get podded. |

Edited by: DragonDoll on 01/01/2009 08:21:21 Illegal drugs are made in illegal labs, meth labs for example. The product is unregulated and risky. Legal drugs are made in Huge corporate biochemical buildings with white tile floors, glass exteriors and with a park lot jam packed with mercedes-benz. Not to mention that the drugs you by from Brad and the drugs you buy from Glaxo-Welcome both pack a hell of a punch. Brads are gernally more fun and cheaper.
So I dont think moving synth ops into high sec would be enough. I think 3%@30min is a joke. Synths either need to last a lot longer or need more of a punch to be worth more than 100k isk per unit too me. Like 3% at a week...I could work with that for the current prices.

Confirming I'm an addict of both synth exile and synth blue bill. Keep on producing OP.

3% at a week wouldn't likely increase the market much, as I'd say the people who -do- use them already probably do about once a week.
The only way I can think of to convince people to use these things, without making them game-breaking, would be to convert them from 3% armor boost amount or what have you to 1-2 to a particular stat, keeping the 30 minute limit.
All that said, the entire booster process needs to be chucked for something simpler - or if left as royally painful as it is now, the amounts produced per run need to increase exponentially. This would drive the price down, and potentially - the total volume up.
People are far more likely to pop 100 10k pills than 1 1m pill. ----------------

Well they are combat boosters, so stat increases are really not what they are for.
Synth should be boosted to 5% and maybe 10%. I use 20% boosters in pvp all the time. I would use the better grade ones but the cost is ridiculous. 25m/50m for the 25%/30% boosters + the skill nanite control is FOUR HUNDRED MILLION ISK. Wtf. More expensive than the capital ships skill book? I'd buy it but I am positive the second I do, it will be hotfixed the next day. --

I agree. I was just trying to give the only example of "something that works" I could think of without re-working the production system or drastically changing the game dynamic. ----------------

I simply put the time of the synth boosters in comparison with the amount of time it takes me to produce them.
In one hour I can mine 600 units of gas. This converts into 26 synth boosters in the end. So one could say I make 52m isk/hour at a sell price of 2m isk/unit.
But I have to add half an hour on average to locate the Ladar gas site. More time to transport the gas around. Time to operate the POS, and waiting time for first the synth reaction to finish and then the synth production. There is also cost associated with running the POS.
All in all I would make more isk/hour mining or running missions.

Edited by: Typhado3 on 01/01/2009 13:00:38 tbh I think they are fine as they are, I wouldn't mind a boost from say 3% to 5% and a equivelant boost for the others. Tbh the boosters are best used for capitals or expensive ships, right now they aren't mainstream but they are useful and this is right where I'd like them to stay.
Also synth boosters use a different kind of gas than the other kinds of boosters, they are also side effect free and you can carry them in empire. Synth kinda are weird in that they aren't like the other boosters if boosters where alcohol then synth would be soda.
I agree that waffles are an important part of signatures
