prevail it seems.
This is addressed to eve-online developers, many over hyped games all trying to eliminate these things because they thought they were "solving" todays games problems are failing hard.
I've been watching most of the new MMO's out there, especially this year, they all try to be WOW in WOW's place. They all fail even though they did indeed feature nice graphics, innovative combat systems and many other things. What they didn't offer is the old school hardcore element of "risking something" when you pvp and giving power to the players. just my too cents.
keep to the sandbox hardcore paradigm
P.S. i should elaborate, really, but this is going to be a long long post then.

there has been a slow but noticeable move in EVE away from hardcore and toward mainstream WoW
EVE is still pretty good tho, but it seems like the new people they bring to work on the game don't realize the importance of what they got. There's probably a market pressure to make the game easier so more people subscribe

Are you implying that WoW offers some kind of risk in pvp?

Wait until some new sandbox open pvp mmo's launch this year, like Darkfall and Mortal Online. Eve will look like WoW in comparison, that is how weak eve pvp has become lately not to mention the weak customer service. ----------------------------------------- [Video] The Neverending Story |

Quite recently, it was "wait until warhammer launches" all over the place. People have waited, people have seen, people have come back.
Customer service in EVE is about 1000% better than the customer service I had in WoW, too. But maybe that changed in WoW in the last two years. I wouldn't know. Friend of mine says it still sucks big time, but you can never trust second hand sources on such stuff. ;-)
Oh, and of course not only will the game blow EVE out of space, the customer service will be much better in Pirates of the Burning Sea Warhammer Online *looks up in the post* er Darkfall.

Warhammer is NOT a sandbox mmo with hardcore pvp. These new mmo's have open pvp and is nothing like WoW-copy....hmpf I mean warhammer.
And yeah you obviously have never experienced WoW customer service. It is 1000 times better then eve. Tbh, eve has one of the worst compared to its age.

Customer service? what customer service?
Well I have to agree really, EVE's customer service isn't exactly top notch.. It is actually horrible, with it's insane waiting times for everything that isn't a Stuck/Exploit petition, but I read somewhere that they were going to improve it.. Sorry but can't remember where on EVE-O I read that.. Anyway so long as they will sort out their CS, I'm happy.
and for those of you hardcore PvP'ers, remember that without the carebears your ships would cost you two legs and half a shirt... CCP is trying to find a good balance between a lot of factors, so just put a little bit of faith in them even if they do stupid things like fixing the ghost training "bug"

Not only do/did we play different WoWs, we also play different EVEs. And here I thought EVE was single-shard.
Stupid fake ads.

well, i was referring actually more to the hardcore as in "you lose something when u die, u gain something when you kill/win".
leaving the fun factor aside, there has to be a reason for someone to pvp, being either, bragging rights (in lineage2 you were the actual lord of a city if you owned its castle), resources (0.0 rats space minerals), even the loot.
Eve offers a nice balance where you can simply put all your accumulated wealth in a simple ship and risk it all in a pvp encounter (ex. fit an expensive faction BS with faction modules and go kill some pirates in low-sec), or get some pvp action every weekend with 1-2 bs/bc with a weeks worth ratting.
Furthermore there is a true goal for a corp to hold space in terms of ratting, high-end minerals e.t.c.
Compare that with the AoC kind of PVP where you can go around killing everyone and do not lose a thing if u die.
Contrary to the eve's case owning a keep here does not give the guild any true benefits.
thats all

Fake? This problem has been ignored by ccp for over 7 months. People are advised to change grafic cards because ccp won't fix the problem. Yeah, great customer service. ANY game has better then this tbfh. |
