So i want to make a corp in the future (it all depends on how confident i am that i can hold it up) and other than making a logo and giving my self a name and ticker i have no idea what im doing rly...can some one point me in a direction of a thread or guide to setting up a corp and things to watch out for?
i have an idea of how the hanger and roles work but just a bare minimum
also skils to have and things i should prepare before hand would help....
oops hehe i almost forgot, it would help if u knew what i plan to do with this corp: i want to start out by being primarily miners to get the corp some good money to cushion it and then move on to mishing, rating in low sec and eventually PVP, all the while continuing mining and mishing for money and standing
in the beginning i plan to recruit only amarrians so that i can help them with armarrian quirks such as using lasers and armor tanking more than shield tanking as well as being easily able to share equip since we all will be able to use it interchangeably
i currently only have corp manage lvl 1 (and can obviously easily train to 2 & 3) but also have mostly all gunnery skills and almsot no industry (industry 2, mining 3, and refine 1 or 2 )
on a final note im not sure if this is the right place to put this thread but i figured that recruitment would be better if i had already made the corp

You really don;t sound like you have any clue what your are doing or getting into. I suggest spending more time with an existing corporation, learning how corporations work, figuring out what kind of focus you want your corp to have, and perhaps even take on some leadership responsabilities as a director or senior member before you even begin to tackle your own corporation.

anyone can make a corp it's how you run it and if you have the time to run it. So if your not born with the ability lead than your corp will fall. Or if your just rich you can invest into it and cross fingers.

My suggestion is to learn by doing it...
You will inevitably:
1. Spend literally days canvassing for members in local, chatting with passers by, recruitment channels, and on forums to get your first few members who will almost certainly have rubbish skills.
2. Employ a corp thief and lose lots of ISK/ships/POS gear at some point.
3. Get wardecced by a vastly superior corp and take the morale beating punishment.
4. Invest more of your personal ISK into the corp than you can earn so get used to flying T1.
5. Struggle with the corporate interface for literally days/weeks/months tailoring roles for stuff until they almost kinda allow people to only do limited actions. God help you if you try to use divisional accounting (See point 2).
6. Spend your play time docked and in conversations with corp members with ideas, plans and issues that only your executive power can resolve.
7. Join an absolute failiure of an alliance thinking they can help you, but really find you'll find they need your help more than you probably need theirs, and they will suck on you like EV-900 drones.
8. Have a lot of fun, meet more people than the average Joe Starship, and be "allowed" to cultivate a massive 'space ego' assuming you do have some limited success.
So... If that sounds appealing then just go for it, learn on the job, keep humble, stay positive and who knows - maybe someday you'll conquer all of 0.0.

The only thing you need to make a corp is some active friends and a direction you want to go in. If you don't already have friends in-game that are active, I suggest just joining someone elses' and making some. -------

The guides are a good place to start for basic how-to advice. The thread also have plenty of good advice along with a few warnings
Some advice from me:
-Be prepared to spend time on your corp -Have a plan B (and C,D,E....) -Have a gimmick - one thing that your corp DOES no more, no less -Recruit actual players over characters any time -Have realistic milestones and goals, and try to reach one or more each month
And finally
-Stop reading forums (CAOD in particular).

well what i find funny is that most of what u guys responded was for the most part predictable
and im guessing that i should have pointed out that im already in a player corp getting a hold on things and that the time i will create this corp is still up in the air so u dont have to worry that im gonna do it tomorrow and get screwed over by any one of the "roadblocks" u guys mentioned
and i actually want to recruit noobs and take advantage of their insta-lvl 5 mining and give'em fully fitted tormentors while i haul....hehe, always wanted to see a bunch of small frigates swarming a belt and raping it only to find out that we only dent it like one single strip miner
also the eve guides site seems like an absolute facepalm for me as to "how did i not find that before?!"
there's also the possibility of me making a "expiramental" corp with the full intention of it going under while also finding ppl that would join the full corp....but i think that would be better done close to the time im gonna create the real one cause then ill be much more knowledgeable about the various things i need to do
so as a big summary: learn what i need from my own corp, take my time before i undertake something this big, plan ahead pretty far and have a bucket full of back-ups, and finally make sure i have reasonable goals and i have fun reaching them :P.... sounds good to me

i must say you nailed what the ceo life is, all that is exactly true in every way. joning the fail alliance is really just so insanely stupid and you begin to think why the F*** did i join these bunch of nubs, but anyways good luck
but if your lucky you may acquire a few members fast which really shaves alot of time and effort off the first few weeks of starting up your corp.

Before creating a corporation, think about what you want to be doing and if players will want to be in such a corporation. The higher you aim, the more it will come down to your abilities to organise and plan ahead.
When that's done, just create the corporation, skill up as members join, one important skills is the one that allows a certain percentage of other racial players to join up.
The CEO panel will be self-explanatory for most things, and documentation is always available where the user interface lacks information.
Also, if you're going for mining, try to get some skills like Mining Foreman/Director so you have something people will want - otherwise there is no real reason to join. ---
