coz of wreck shooting... (accidently)
We were doing mission in a fleet. He press F1-F8 to fire, but right before he pressed the target got destroyed, and turned out a big cross on his cursor. But he didn't realized and continued to click something on the overview, in this case, a wreck. So the result... fired at the wreck, blown it up, and the CONCORDs popped up and revenged for the wreck... thats ridiculous.
Is there any ways to avoid this? or perhaps a warning message pops up at least? I think we're not the only one, many could have been already fallen into this "trap" too, or maybe even lost many bigger ships...
Thanks, and any tips, helps or comments would be much appreciated.

Normally, there is a message that pops up when you target and try to fire one something like that; it says "Are you sure you want to do this dangerous act, CONCORD will pwn you, etc." There is an option to disable said message, which many people do because it can be rather annoying. It does, however, save you from this sort of thing.
Only thing is, I never turned it off, so I'm not sure how to turn it back on. Hopefully someone else on the forum will reply, or you could ask in the in-game help channel. ----------------------------------------------
Say "Amarr ships suk, lol." I dare you.

There's usually a warning message that pops up when you attempt to attack a peaceful target. Your friend may have checked the "Don't show this again" box when doing something else (such as pirating).
There should be a button in the ESC window somewhere which resets all warning messages. That might fix it. ----------

Edited by: Destination SkillQueue on 02/01/2009 19:43:54 Yeah, he primed his weapons and fired on someone elses property. This would not be a problem, if you were in the same player corp. There might be a way around this by adjusting your standings to maximum towards you friend, but this is just me guessing. I suggest you either start using weapon grouping, so you only have to press one button to fire your weapons or enable the warning messages again.

Really the safest option is probably to re-enable warning messages and just deal with the minor hassle when PVPing. ----------

Edited by: Joe Starbreaker on 02/01/2009 22:07:32 You're in an NPC corp, not a player corp, so normal rules don't apply. If you were in the same player-owned corporation, you could shoot each other's stuff without Concord intervening.

I am very sure the you CANNOT disable the warning in highsec, as of a few patchs ago. however you can turn the warning off in lowsec.
he may have been typing something and pressed enter at the most unfortunate time, as it defaults to yes.

The problem was the first cruiser, as we're all 5-6 days old newbies, we had no idea why and how his cruiser got blown up. After some discussion we thought the reason was he accidently target one of us and shot, and never thought of the wrecks... when his 2nd cruiser blown up, we know (and too late to know) we had wrong conclusion

Actually we're playing Chinese version of Eve, which hasn't patch to Quantum Rise yet (But coming soon at 7 Jan).
Is this the reason why we can accidently disable the warning?
Btw, can't figure out how to reset this yet, I've checked the "Reset option" but nothing related to this warning etc... Any idea?

Originally by: Elpeo Puru continued to click something on the overview, in this case, a wreck.
Regardless of whether warnings are popping up or not, at the very least you need to get control of your Overview. Time to start playing with some filters.
There's a couple of good guides on how to do this. (Don't have the links here, sorry. Hopefully someone will link a good guide). Get all your wrecks & lootcans switched off, as a preset. You'll have waaaay less clutter on the Overview, and you won't be able to accidentally shoot other peoples' wrecks.
When it's time to loot, turn them back on. _______

Like the guy above said, you need to edit your filters to block out any chance of friendly fire. I know, it sucks, we have all done it in empire. Just gotta live with it, i mean a cruiser setup is roughly what? 2/3 missions i guess.
