Edited by: Rhysire on 03/01/2009 01:39:41 basically... what kind of npc threat is inside a RADAR site for example? If i go into a low sec radar site, am i going to need a strong tank or are the insides not full of npcs?
i've probed out a few 'unknown' sites but no luck finding radar yet... still trying!
Thanks!

All I know is that in hisec Radars it ranges from a couple of frigs to two battleships. I havent done a lot of radars but usually radars are just a couple ships. Unknowns on the otherhand are DED sites which are rated from 1 to 10 according to their difficulty and what ships are allowed in. In the hisec cosmos areas you can find permanent ded sites of level 3 and 4 which allow max ships cruisers and battlecruisers respectively. Hisec unknowns range from ded 1 to 4 afaik and you need be able to deal with a lot of ships in all of them. You can actually get some idea of unknowns from doing one of the permanent level 1 or 2 deds that are all through hisec just increase the ships sizes to get an idea of higher ded levels. You can check the level of an unknown after you have found it by getting out of your ship, into your pod and activating the gate. It wont let you warp and it will show you a dialog shich tells you the allowed ships.

Radar's generally have a few ships when you first enter. If you kill them other waves may spawn. When you access/hack the cans it may trigger other spawns similar to the original waves. Generally hi-sec ones are just frigs, maybe the odd cruiser. Lo-sec ones plenty of frigs and some cruisers maybe the odd BC and BS. Not done any in null-sec. But as exploration is randomised results may differ, sometimes quite a lot. Seen some stasis towers in the lo-sec ones also.

Like a Level 4 almost, plenty of battleships with a few frigates and cruisers. The ones I did were not very hard, easily done in an Ishtar.

In lowsec I killed the spawns in a rupture with active, rat specific armor tank, was a bit tricky sometimes but it aint that hard. some frigs and battlecruisers, depending on the site. Some have web towers in them, which can be annoying when set up for close range.. :) Now in 0.0 I use a battleship (tempest) but a hac with a tank should could do it aswell..

I use a Cerb for the few L4s I do, handles them all well, should be fine for this then. THanks! |

I've never seen a hi-sec radar site with more than frigs in it and I've ran a lot of them. 0.0 radars can have BS though.

Doesn't really answer your question about low sec sites but:
I've been in high sec radar sites with up to 4 battleships.
Base 1 - Frigs, maybe a destroyer or 2, no spawns once killed. About 8 ships total. Base 2 - Up to 4 battleships, some destroyers, no spawns ( about 12 ships) Base 4 - Frigs and destroyers, 1 cruiser, often more frig/dessie spawns while hacking (couldn't be bothered to count)
Think I've got the base numbers correct. The only low sec radar site I've done was frigs and destroyers with spawns that web/scram etc. No idea on base number.
In addition to a previous poster's info on unknown sites, not all are DED rated. Those that are not are as difficult/easy as those that are but have the chance of an escalation (of which I've only had one since QR... my cursed luck I suppose.) |
