Ok, it is time something is done about the awful lag that has been occurring since the last patch. Warp to gate, come out of warp and start to approach gate then suddenly 1-5 au from gate in warp again. Took over 2 hours to make a 60 jump trip tonight. And fighting is even worse. 1/2 the time you activate weapons and takes 10-30 seconds before they start to fire.
Please CCP the lag has got to be a top priority.

Well there are many factors to consider when trying to locate the source of the lag. Load lag is client side, since the game decides to give you the information about whats at the end of your warp... right as you get there. That sudden relay of information causes that sudden lag everytime you reach the end of a warp. Another source of lag, is the massive amount of data that is relayed to every player. Please take a look at your cache folder to see exactly how much crap is being sent to you every time you play. Multiply that times about 5 - 6 thousand people. Thats an insane amount of wasted space and bandwidth. Right now my cache folder is about 500 megabytes, that means since the last patch (thats when I cleared my cache last) I have downloaded 500+ megabytes of data. So theres my 2 cents about the lag...

Give me a break. I am tired of hearing the "IT'S CLIENT SIDE". When everyone in my corp even in totally seperate areas of the game is experiencing this, it is NOT Client side. You going to tell me all our drives need defragged or we all have slow network or all our cache folders are messed upp at the same time?

Uhmm..worst lag I have had is about 2-5sec and I play about 8-16hours day.
Else just when servers get up after downtime, and all people logs in it lags abit too. But thats gone after 5mins or so.

Mindbender, where are you located and what's your internet connection? I'm based in London (thus right next to the servers) and using ADSL. While I do get lag it is no where near as bad as you're experiencing even with 6k+ players online.
Quote: I play about 8-16hours day.
Wow. How do you manage that? No wonder certain players are so far ahead of the rest of us.

I am in Phoenix, AZ USA and have a 3mbit cable connection. I get excellent pings to servers and tracert shows no routing problems. Lag has only been like this since the last patch. Previously only had breif periods of this type of lag. This has been almost constant since the last patch.

I play at work too :)
MindBender: Ping and tracert use small packets. (32-64bytes)
Try with larger packets and see if any difefrence. use the -l option on ping.

I have to agree, until the last patch which was to fix the CTD issue it was silky smooth...now, Phfft. I also notice the lag progressively gets worse the longer the server is up, then starts improving again as the player numbers start dropping off (1am US CST)

Put it back down your bottom! Lag is depressing enough as it is, without thinking about the histroy of lag!
