How would one really get started with effective manufacturing. I bought a Multifreq L blueprint for fun to see if manufacturing would be something id like to get into. I flew around awhile and couldn't find anywhere that i would be able to upgrade ML or PL of the BP. I also couldn't find minerals cheap enough to possibly turn a profit.
Of course i could do more research and searching but is it even worth manufacturing without first eating the initial loss of a POS along with the reoccurring loss just to be able to research? |

There are a lot of people around that will research a BPO for you for a small fee.

Copies! Do not neglect copies! They are the best option for young manufacturers, though everyone will disagree with me on that point... while I make money hand over fist using copies...
Joining One Stop Research alliance (search corps for One Stop Research Stop) will allow you access to ME production slots for a fee.
I hate that people put ridiculous amounts of ME on things using public slots: 300 ME on some rig blueprints that have zero waste ta 3 ME - what did that accomplish for you?! |

- Queue it up. - Check the locations for researching things. Some stations have no or very low queues. - Check contracts for researched blueprints. - Ask your corp/alliance if anyone can do it in a PoS, or if there's one you can use. |

1. No need to "fly around"; lrn2use Eve 2. Put up your own tower 3. Go to low/null

Also, make sure your relevant skills are up. Manufacturing is essentially pointless unless you have:
PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY 5 Seriously, it's worth it. Also, it's normal to have a very hard time finding free research slots in hisec. Lowsec will be a bit easier, and ideally, a POS is the best place (that comes at some expense, though.)
You're close, but you need to do more research.
This should get you started:

I do research for anybody that asks, when I have the slots available.
Feel free to send me an EVE-mail with details on what research you want done, then contract the BPO to me in Jita, for an amount that will cover their cost (collateral).
I don't usually charge for collateral under 500m.

Dont forget you can still que your research job in npc station, but theres that wait period before it starts.
Personally i have alt corp that can put up pos for researching when needed in highsec. [Insert something funny or smart here] |

Of course i could do more research and searching but is it even worth manufacturing without first eating the initial loss of a POS along with the reoccurring loss just to be able to research? some back water systems and many low sec systems have very short wait times for research slots. You really need to look around to find them. Do not look for an empty slot but a slot with a wait time of less than 30 days is not bad. You can que your job on a used slot it will just not start until the current que is complete.(represented by the time when that slot becomes available)
Slots with low que times are hard to find that is why high sec research POSes are so popular.
You can find research slots with lower wait times but they are hard to find. You have to look in very inconvenient places.
However a small POS can run 3 labs and some deffenses, they need 7200 blocks of fuel a month and are fairly safe in the right location. 3 standard labs gives you 9 ME slots 9 PE slots 3 copy slots and 3 invention slots. I have had one up for almost a year and never been attacked or even war deced.
Find a system where you can rent a corp office cheap and it will be a safe place to set up a POS. you keep all your BPO's in the corp hanger in station and can remotely use them in the POS labs as long as they are in the same system. you risk nothing but the cap costs of the small POS and labs. |

If the offer is legit you contract it to them for what the BPO is worth, tell them what research you want on it, then they contract back to you after researching it for the original price plus research costs. There is very little risk, as if they steal the BPO you were paid its value.
Many high sec researcher do this to utilize extra slots they have they do not need. |

To use any of the NPC installations you do not need a "free" slot to install a blue print. You will never find a copy or ME installation free in high sec stations, but you can search for ones that have the least amount of wait time.
blueprint jobs stack, with each job queued up as "Pending" until the previous jobs have been completed.
So for example you have a copy job that will take 10 days. But there are 5 days worth of jobs ahead of you. You setup your install copy job which will sit in the queue as "pending" for 5 days. Once the 5 days of prior jobs are complete your 10 day job will switch to "in progress" and will be completed in 10 more days, meaning you will have a total of 15 days for the job to be complete.
5 - 10 days is a good wait time for copy. 10 - 20 days is a good wait time for ME jobs. 0 wait on PE (always free slots available). 0 wait on invention (always free slots available).
