Edited by: Schalac on 05/01/2009 02:32:27 Why do people feel the need to put this in their bio? What is the point of this phrase, and why is the text around it so often all the colors of the rainbow? Is this some new way of them letting the rest of EVE know that that are not "anti-pirate" but actually "butt-pirates"?
Discuss.

No good can come of this.
------ I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it. |

These are the folks who think that by identifying with philosophies and virtues that they believe define "The Good Guys" they will have some inherent advantage over "The Bad Guys".
They're the same type of people who roll Night Elf Rogue after Night Elf Rogue, transferring servers each time, hoping that this time they'll get it right and find the server where "The Bad Guys" aren't overpowered, overgeared, or accommodated of some unfair advantage.
If you don't believe me, just look up "Charlie the Unicorn" on YouTube.

I don't see the need of it myself really, all it does is hang a big bullseye on your back for every pie in the sector. If you're going to anti-pie, might as well keep it on the DL and just handle business. God knows that pirates outnumber anti-pies by a ton and a half. ---

They act like any other human being. They do it because it makes them feel better in the short run. --
There are countless games in the world. There are at least as many ppl that dont like one or more rules of said games. That never stopped smart game designers from creating good games.

I don't like to be the victim of piracy, but I like to be a pirate. Why they impose such artificial absoluth rules upon themself I do not know. Life (and life in EVE) is fleeting, ever changing, din't limit yourself by stating "anti pirate". my two cents :P

By definition, being an 'anti-pirate' means that you destroy other pirates. Therefore, the only real anti-pirates are other pirates, as they're the only ones skilled enough to kill pirates. All the rest are just victims waiting to happen. Bellum Eternus Inveniam viam aut faciam.

Its the classic battle of Good Vs Evil. Its not difficult to understand.
Some people like to take things from others, scam people, or just blow random people up for giggles. People like this are generally considered 'bad' and 'evil'. In real life, we generally call these people CEO's and politicians because they scam people, take their things, and they use force to get what they want.
Other people like to stand up to protect not only themselves, but others as well against these kinds of people. They willingly put themselves in harms way to try to make things better and consider it 'honorable' and 'noble' to do this. The use and abuse of others is repugnant to these people. For the most part, people are unable to do this in real life, but some groups that try are the Electronic Frontier Foundation and The Red Cross.
By putting Anti-Pirate in their bio, they are proclaiming what they are. They consider it an honor to stand up for 'the little guy' and want to let others know. This is just another way to stand up against the 'evil' things that go bump in the night.

What we see here is a classic example of an "emo nerd" posting one of his "fail responses" He was beat up in highschool because his glasses were to thick and now he's wants to get e-revenge by "griefing" people. He claims thats it's only pvp in a pvp game but the pvp he participates in is what is called pirating. Now this is small scale pvp and it doesn't impact the universe that much except for getting miners and carebears "angry". The pvp I participate in is large scale, where we conquer territory and field massive armies or "blobs". The fact is that the pvp I partake in is more important then the small scale irrelevant pvp of this "pirate". So in the end I'm more important then you.

This. All of the anti-pirates I've known have been lame blobbers that wouldn't leave station without a guaranteed victory (or when there's a CNR for them to pirate). Anti-pirates love easy ganks just as much as anyone, they just put up an absurd image of being "the good guys" so they don't have to admit it. -----------

That more looks like the definition of pirates.
I have anti pirated enough. Why do it? Because it is far more fun to shoot another combat ship that wants to shoot you, than to attack a hauler with 5 BS. And it was always the question how many corp mates where this time in the next system waiting to jump in. ---------------------------------------------

If it says anti-pirate in their bio, their tears turn into isk. Also, the convoes are so much funnier with those pilots. ______________________
