Edited by: Juelia Wolf on 05/01/2009 18:33:12 EDIT pressed enter too early.
Ive been AFK mining veldspar in my itty 5 for a day or two now because i know its the most money per hour ore in highsec.
But i just thought about it, and im AFK mining so i dont give a **** about that. Is there any ores that are worth more per M3 than veldspar that are found in highsec?
Or should i just keep mining veld?

DonŠt forget to insert the current mineral prices. The default-prices are quite outdated (yesterday Trit was more expensive than Pyer in Jita). |

This. I was selling Trit for 4.00 - 4.15 yesterday. Pyerite seems to be good.

Probably kernite, not by a big margin over veldspar though _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

As a general rule, whatever is worth the most money/hour is also worth the most per m3, as the rates of most(all?) mining equipment is based on volume. I.E. Less units of bulkier ores/time spent. So isk/sec is directly correlates with m3/sec.

What I learned from this thread: AFK mining is serious business that greatly benefits from minmaxing. |

Funny thing about industry in EVE, without it there would be no T2 ;)

Updating the Trit prices with what I am currently getting in my system (3.76 - I could get higher by going into a trade hub) the best ore by far is stil Veldspar - 112.91. The next next better ore is Spodumain at 140.42, then Dark Ochre (at 198.33).
In High sec, I'm sticking with veldspar as I can mine more of it and process it faster than anything else. PS: I did not check or change any prices of any other ores but I dont believe they are current (at least not at my region prices).

I thought you could get trit for 3.50 or something around that number by reprocessing Civilian Afterburners. Did something change recently that prevents you from reprocessing these ?

Even if you still could (not sure if it's still true or not), the logistics of moving trit from the stations that sell them to the stations where the "good" buy orders are is quite annoying.

As an alt who AFK mines, I'll assure you that AFK mining truly is serious business.
Question for everyone in the thread though. How skilled do you have to be in refining before it becomes better to refine the Veldspar into tritianium and then sell that?

Amen sister.
Most people do not bother to calculate ALL costs in the process. They just blithely assume if X rock is worth 0.01 ISK more then it is better to mine. Not necessarily true. Maybe better, maybe not better. Need to consider the entire process from mining laser to ISK in your wallet. Schlubbing stuff around is a big part of that. May seem "free" but it isn't. Have to consider your opportunity costs (e.g. instead of driving a hauler for three hours you could be missioning or shooting newbs or whatever floats your boat). There is both a cost aspect to that such as mission rewards and a just plain fun aspect to it since most people place hauling waaaay down their list of fun things to do in EVE.

Refining 5, Refinery Efficiency 3, Ore-Specific Processing 3 - should be enough to get you to 0% losses in a 50% refinery.
edit: there are complete tables and calculators available, check Halada's Mining Guide for more mining goodness!

Indeed, I remember someone swearing up and down that the value of the ore they mined wasn't what the market price was. But what they valued it at...
Another that swore that he was doing well selling all his ore 20 jumps away... when a huge buyer was 4 jumps away and buying at 9/10ths that price. He didn't factor in the fact time spent hauling there in a low boat freighter could be offset by mining more and going local..
Oh well all iskies lost from their pockets wind up in ours... or some does anyway
Yes I'm a forum alt... deals with it :-P
