If you don't kill Gallente NPC's and don't complete storyline missions then you won't lose Gallente standings while running missions for Caldari Navy.

Worth noting that killing Minmatar NPCs will also drop your Gallente standing.

I would suggest that you double check that.
Standings loses do not have derived effects: only standings gains have derived effects.
You should not expect to lose Gallente standings for killing Minmatar any more than you would expect to gain Gallente standings for killing Serpentis.

Should be noted here that if you don't run storylines, you CAn'T raise faction standings - only corporate and agent.
That can hurt you when you then look for another corporation to work for; as initial corporate standings are the HIGHER of either faction or corporate...so when you're starting work for a new corporation, having good faction can save you a LOT of work re-running level 1 and level 2 missions.

You gain more faction standing then you lose so for every dozen or so Gall storyline missions I run a couple for a Caldari Corp to keep my standing -1.0 or better.
