EVE = Most Boring MMO Ever.
I break EvE online into two parts.
Part One: You are logged off and not playing. This is the part where you're "waiting" for your training to finish. Actually, you aren't waiting. Unlike every MMO when you're logged off you're still accomplishing something. Makes me warm and fuzzy when I have a social life and still getting stuff done in EvE :P
Part Two: Actively playing online. This is when you make something fun happen. I for one do not mission. I skipped missions entirely. Well, I did them early on... Now I simply pirate/pvp.
Your view on PVP is a bit skewed. Where did you get it? Ive ran into gate camps, yes, but I have had more 2v2 1v2 3v3 small skirmish battles than anything. You just have to pick and choose what you do...
This game is very open-ended, and may seem quite boring for someone who knows nothing about the possibilities... And the possibilities is what makes this game so amazing.
You can do anything you want. You can bait people to an asteroid belt, and kill them. You can steal their stuff, and make them attack you. You can just taunt them long enough they finally attack you.
You can setup a mining ship, and bait a group, then come with your own. You can gate camp... You can coast just outside of lock range of a group in your inty laughing and tempting fate at the same time.
This game is awesome. Also, I don't feel like I'm wasting time ever, I'm always training, even if I take a break for a day or two, I won't be "left behind" by friends.
Please stay, you could be that newb my gatecamp has been waiting for...

This game is boring to anyone who expects to find a theme park with a bunch of rides, or have their entertainment spoon fed.
You get tools. If you have no creativity, they're pretty useless and boring. Missions are just one of those tools, and skills (or lack thereof) don't prevent you from doing anything older players in bigger ships do.
Don't play so timidly, and you won't be bored. Simple as that. If you can't do that, then yes, WoW is the game for you as it has way better PVE and static content.

I remember when It was kind of a boring game, there weren't many people on to interact with and I didn't relish the social aspect after all the drama I experienced in EQ. So I kept to myself. Well that was a mistake, warping from belt to belt to belt killing rats, boring after a while. But as others have said, either you 7/10 trolled, or you need to dust off your brain and figure out something creative and fun. Get a cruiser and high sec gank someone, go to a remote section of 0.0 and sit cloaked for days and drive them crazy. Go find a newb to flip his can and pop his ore grinder. Sit in line with another gate in lowsec and smart bomb pods and shuttles until -10........

An MMO is as fun as you make it.

EVE = Most Boring MMO Ever.
Original Poster; most clueless MMO player ever!
Yes, some people do the activities you're whining about. I think they're boring too, missions especially. There are always going to be some PvE weirdos who want to grind 6 months for "raid gear" or faction ships that.... simply let them grind a little faster. They want to do that, fine, there is room for them too.
What you missed, though, is everything else that is going on. Some people like to play the market, or at manufactoruing, and grow their financial empires. Some guys like to go out and pick fights, steal stuff, or stake out their own little piece of space. Unlike most other games, even a lot of MMO's, it's less about the mechanics for their own sake than it is about building something in a persistent game world.
I find that people who get frustrated because it's "just boring mining and missions" tend to be the people who never make friends in-game and never find anything more meaningful to do than zap rocks and do boring NPC missions. Mining is there for the industrial players, and missioning for most is fallback income for people who can't manage to make ISK any other way.

EVE = Most Boring MMO Ever.
A hundred thousand people seem to disagree with you. If the game was that boring, we wouldn't be here.
Eve is the sort of game which weeds the Easy Riders from the Wilderness Hillwalkers early on: if you really want to experience it and have fun, you have to leave the road and make your own trails.
That you've returned a couple times says you want to be one of the Hillwalkers but you're too accustomed to Riding to figure out how. You're still in a noobcorp, after all that time, which means you're missing out on the bulk of what Eve's Wilderness has to offer: Community. A single Hillwalker alone is not safe in the wilderness. They travel with others to find their way.
You minght want to consider going into the Recruitment Forums and seeing what different corporations have to offer. Give it some real consideration, start talking to some people, see if they're going in a direction that seems interesting. Take a few steps off the road :)
And if after that you still don't get it... at least you can't say you haven't tried. ---------------------------------

EVE = Most Boring MMO Ever.
There are some glaring issues in the game that need some major tuning and it seems the devs would rather add shiney new mini-games instead of fixing them. EVE isn't the kinda game you actually have to play, it's an afkers dream game. You can make in game money with out actually being at the keyboard, how great is that! Or skill up with out actually playing the game. Now, if they'd lower there price to match the actual time involved in playing the game we'd all be a little big richer. And, if the game could only run the mission for you, man then you wouldn't ever have to log in at all.
The devs need to do a lot of work on alts (What is the point of alts anyways??) Can't skill them while your 'main' is etc, and missions, umm how many times to I have to run the same mission to get a storyline that will most likely be the same one I ran last time???
Working on rep is the most worst experience I've ever had in any game, most MMOs let you feel some accomplishment after a full week of grinding. Unlike most MMOs EVE doesn't have a leveling, quest or real reputation system, which hurts the game a lot for new players. The skills are real time which while has it's nice points, gets old after your first multi-day skill.
And with no way to speed up that training really gets tiring after your 5th or so multi-day skill. Don't even mention the really awesome learning skills, which are ta joke.
PVP is of the lol-gate camp variety, I don't see this changing ever.

Well with all due respect, EVE is an MMO with the speedbreaks firmly on. The first two weeks is going to be spend just leveling learning skills, 0.0 or piracy isn't exactly noob friendly.
A rifter can't tank gate guns and it can't kill the rats out in 0.0. Besides what 0.0 corp, other then goons (requires three months on the SA forums before you can join) is going to take a noob still in frigs and doing level 1 missions.
In other games somebody who plays for six months is a vet, on top of endgame content, has stuff that rocks, ect. In EvE we use, in all seriousness, the term "six month old noob". I can probably get a char up to max levels in Warhammer online in that time. Names, Dates, Times, Engagements, Losses, Op-Tempo or STFU! |

I sort of agree with this, but the reason for the brakes is more inexperience with the player than character and the nature of the competition and loss in EVE.
When you are a true noobie you suffer from inexperience of character nad player both. The training time and cost of losing limits the speed people will learn. This is because you can't go beyond certain point in this game, if you don't risk your posessions or your life. You have to pay the price to learn, it will cost you and your resources are limited. You have to make choices.
Player skill/attitude makes all the difference and the sandbox strikes again. You have the option to not learn to play certain aspects the game in those six months. More likely you can't learn them all, so again you have to make choices. Your characters skills won't save you, when you start doing things you never did before.
In most games this isn't an option, since what you can do is really very limited and you don't lose anything by failing, so you can keep at it. You get to master the game, since that is all there is to it.
The competition between players is also limited in other games, since they can't really take things from you or limit your options. It's more like a game of sport than serious competition, where you can actually lose most of what you accomplished to the actions of your competition. This brings fear and exitement to the game, that either makes you want to learn faster/more or scares you and slows the speed at which you learn the game.
The option to not compete is there, but you might as well play other games then. They do the PvE better at this point and the competition between players they offer doesn't allow you to ever really fail.

@ OP
You do really have to be creative, The majority of other posters know this from past experiences and thus have learned how this game works, Its your playground, you don't get fed much but you, in contrast, have a lot of your own choices.
This game uses a lot of social techniques be them bad or good, Its your choice.
