TIME - 21-00, 10th of January Eve Time (DO YOUR CONVERSIONS RIGHT!) DURATION - 2 hours, a bit more if we run overtime. METHOD OF DELIVERY - Lecture over Eve Voice, complemented by channel chat. LOCATION - "Eve Uni Public Class" channel (click on the join button in channels and mailing lists section and type in that name)
Class contents: òWorking in fleets and on TS / Vent òPvP fitting principles òLowsec, highsec and nullsec mechanics òGatecamps òTackling òElectronic Warfare òShort summary of the other roles òDealing with your first fight òEscaping when things turn bad
Joining your first large fleet operation in Eve Online, even in a helpful corp, can be an overwhelming experience. There are so many things to consider û fittings, gameplay mechanics, typical fleet operations, the intricacies of various roles, and so on.
The aim of this class is to provide a crash course overview of fleet PvP in two to two and a half hours so that students will be prepared. It incorporates information about tackling, electronic warfare, working in fleets, fitting your ship, gatecamping and so on. After completing this class, a new player should be able to fully participate in a fleet operation, and understand what is going on, and act appropriately in various situations, such as low sec, highsec and gatecamps.
He or she will also gain a fair understanding of how to fit out and fight in two important roles that are very newbie friendly û tackling and electronic warfare. Lastly, they should have an idea of what the other roles do.
NOTE - This class WILL NOT cover every topic thoroughly - rather it is intended to get you aquainted with the basics enough to be able to work in a fleet without trouble. Please note this class teaches based on the way *we* run fleets. Although fleeting is fairly universal, corps can differ in their approaches. And finally, this class does not is focused on larger fleets, not small gang, though the principles are fairly similar.
Eve University is a famous corp dedicated to helping new players in Eve, and teaching these public classes is part of our initiatives to continue to expand our support for Eve's most valuable, yet underappreciated asset - new players. We run a public channel called "Eve University" where you may ask any questions and solicit help. Its also the place to head if you have a question about this class or would like to join the uni.
If you are interested in attending the class or would like to comment, please post here to keep the thread bumped so that everyone may see it.

This isn't Agony Unleashed heh. Its free to listen in. There is no practical aspect since the diplomacy of working with pilots who are hostile to each other (potentially) is too much bother - its all a lecture over Eve Voice so you can listen in anywhere

This.
The Ravens play the Titans at 4:30pm (21:30 GMT) and I'll be at a friend's play off party. It would be awesome if we could get a recording on EVE-Files or some other file hosting site. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. |

Heh I think you misunderstand our students. They *expect* to die. For them, getting blown up by a big alliance in 0.0 is "really awesome". Last time I was in 0.0 we put up a bubble and AAA ended up bringing in a titan to DD us all... Unsporting, but equally hilarious. All our guys were like "OMG A TITAN! SWEET!"

Any objections to grumpy old-timers popping in? Not saying I will be free then, but I thought I'd ask just in case.

What's the class? "Bring three times as much as the other person, make it all tech 1 and all insured." ?
I may listen in too, could be fun. Good luck :-) --

Its just a lecture only. No practical aspects, unfortunately. There are a bunch of diplomatic issues running a multicorp operation, especially due to the fact that Eve Uni has strict rules to help us maintain neutrality. |
