im interested in started a corp between me and some friends
were all purely industrial that run missions every now and then to break the day up
---
the only thing putting me off is getting war dec'd, i dont want to have to hide every few days because were easy targets
---
what does surrendering do? does it cost me anything to surrender? does it affect my toon in anyway?
i looked on the wiki but couldnt find anything, google wasnt much help either, just want some info before i commit |

People will chime in and tell you NOT to run a corp if you are scared of wardecs. Which is the best advice.
But if you insist on doing so, I don't recommend surrendering. You have to meet the deccer in station and meet their demands by surrendering via isk and/or assets. But it's a good chance that they will simply dec you again because the game mechanics will allow them to do so without repercussions.
And it is at this point in the discussion where others will chime in and list all the ways to avoid a wardec if you are an industrialist....

The thing is that corps in Eve aren't like player groupings in other games. Corps have a meaning. This means that there are benefits to having a corp, but there are also drawbacks. If you can't handle running a corp, then you shouldn't, because it is a big responsibility.
That said, the best way to avoid wardecs is to keep a low profile (such as not missioning/mining where there are lots of people) and don't give them targets (either dock up or be elsewhere when there's a war going on). It's a risk that comes with the responsibility of running a corp. |

if you don't plan on having a pos, simply docking for the wardec period works. the best thing to do if at war is not give them targets.. |

Make an alt of one of your accounts to start the corp. When you get dec'd, leave the corp, rejoin when dec is done. I started a corp for hauling\mining alts. Its a year old and has not had a single dec yet. Just remember, if you have roles, there is a 24hr stasis before you can leave the corp after dropping the roles. |

If all you want is a common identity, you can achieve that by creating a private chat channel and only invite your friends there. You can also rename your ships to have a common tag in front of it's name. Corpmail can be replaced with a mailing list in a similar fashion.

As long as you're not in an alliance then you can use the "dec shield" alliance for the time-being to shake off any wardecs you don't want. I understand that wardec mechanics are due to be changed but I'm not aware of the details. |

This will end with the changes in the wardec system. But there are enough possibilities to get rid of griefdecs

I would say to not worry about it. Start a corp (the suggestion of using an alt to start it is a good one), and have your friends join. If you get wardecced, you can jump corp if you want.
Or, maybe you'll find that you and your gaggle of friends can put up a fight (and maybe you can't), but...

Do it. I did it and it was a blast. We had a grand total of three wardecs, one of which I personally provoked.
Here are some lessons learned both as the director of a noob corp and as someone who spends a lot of time in highsec warfare:
- Make a CEO alt. It takes almost no training to get skills to start a small corp for a few friends. This will be important later.
- Learn how to use roles properly. You can make yourself a director if you want so that you don't have to log out and back in to make changes to the corp. Give the people you trust hangar access and other such tools.
- When the inevitable wardec comes, just quit the corp and leave your CEO alt there to keep the lights on. Anyone with roles will need to "prepare to quit corp" and wait 24 hours while their roles are revoked, but since you have 24 hours before the war starts you guys shouldn't be under threat of war for long. Drop corp, wait for the wardec to run out, and then join your corp again.
- Be sure to mock the griefers in local if they show up to camp you in only to see you undock in a different corp. You will likely evoke some amusing complaints and insults. Congratulations, you've harvested tears!
- Once the war is over resume business as usual.
If at some point in the future you're applying for a different corp and they ask why your employment record is full of you dropping corp over and over, just explain what you did and tell them it was corp policy. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

If your corp is very small, it probably won't get dec'ed unless you really annoy someone. Attackers would rather use their three-war limit on large corporations that offer them more targets. |

For the love of baby Jesus, just go fight ppl that wardec you. Sure, you're going to lose some ships, but you very well might blow up a couple of theirs if you are smart about it. Most wannabe highsec deccers are absolute morons and pull many of the same mistakes there hapless victims do because they are so confident that their targets are too stupid/afraid/weak. Go out, kick them in the nuts. Even if you lose you have gained an extremely valuable experience, one of which is what truly makes this game great: PVP!
Set traps for them. Logon traps. Mission gate traps, etc. Gate camp the crap out of their systems. Form up lol RR-cruiser gangs even. Make them feel like utter fools whenever you can. In this game, brains can often trump brawn. Eve does not suffer the stupid incontinent masses. It'll kick you in the balls and laugh in your face if you happen to be one.

You clearly have no idea what you speak of. You should put back in the ball-gag and be quiet now. Post with your main or GTFO! |

Playing on the odds, there's a chance you'll get dec'd only if you're running high sec towers. If you're not running any towers, don't sweat a war dec. Get everyone into jump clones, spread a few into different corners of Empire, and when a wardec comes, jump everyone to a new location. It's highly unlikely that a wardec'er will follow your people 35 jumps across Empire.
If you want/have a tower, either tear it down in the first 24 hours of your wardec (then jump elsewhere), or set it up as a large d!ckstar: tons of ECM hanging off a Caldari tower. But if you won't have the skills to operate it during a wardec, just tear it down, and put it back up after the dec expires. Same corp decs you again, petition them for harassment. :) |

Been playing about 3 years almost always in small corps - Never been war deced. Just start a corp and see how it goes.
Chances are, no one will war dec you.
If you do get constant decs - kick the newer people from the corp cause you likely have an alt from the aggressors corp as a member.
Also watchlist your own corp members. Then if you are decced - watchlist the enemy corp members. Net connections dropping, computer crashes or sleepy players who close all their clients at once can provide excellent intel on who's really who.
Never ever give directorship or hanger access to anyone you don't know in real life. If you do give randoms corp roles, you will lose all your stuff one day - 100% guaranteed. Fix this **** See Sea Pea. |
