Oursalet in Essence is more the market hub
Dodixie in Sinq Liason is a mission hub so has a good market by default

They're also about 3 jumps apart which is very convenient. And it's Oursulaert. No one can ever remember it right :P

Tbh Dodixie is more and more taking over the role as main market hub aswell.

You know I remember when it was called Oursalag. Any time you saw more than 60 people in system you wanted to stay away from it like the black plague.

Dodixie is a big cluster of mission hubs.
Oursulaert is the other, which is about 6-7 jumps away in the next region. Isn't much of a distance and is two regions to trade in.
Dodixie i'd say is bigger, busier, and more full of ****.

Each of the four factions has a market hub:
Caldari - Jita
Gallente - Oursulaert
Minmatar - Rens
Amarr - Amarr
At one point they were all equal and you could go to any one and get a good deal on whatever you wanted, but then came the big flood of Caldari carebears who run missions out of Caldari space. This led to better markets in Caldari space, which in turn meant that Jita now became a better trade hub than any of the others.
That being said, if you hang out in Gallente space, you can usually find whatever you want in either Dodixie or Oursulaert. The prices may not be as good as Jita's, but they'll be close.

If you're in Amarr space, use Amarr as your trade hub.
If you're in Caldari space, use Jita as your trade hub.
If you're in Minmatar space, use Rens as your trade hub.
If you're in Gallente space, use Amarr, Rens, or Jita as your trade hub.
Oursulaert sucks. |

Dodi is better. Ours is often not that cheap at all and poorly stocked. I live between the two and I don't bother with Ours as a rule.
It's occassionally worth the trip to Hek, though not often.
Orvolle is OK if you're over there. |

There's quite a few trade hubs in Gallente space:
Oursualert: Important Tech II component hub and trade hub in it's own right, the largest market in the Federation.
Dodixie: Major mission hub with attached trade hub, overspills into Auvergne, Aunia and the rest of the Coriault constellation. NB: Busiest system in the Federation.
Orvolle: Major trade hub in Placid, largely used as a resupply point for people in Syndicate and out in Placid, as well as some FDU fleets overspills into Osmeden.
Stacmon: Well-located if expensive hub in Placid used as an entry point into the bulk of Placid's low-sec, overspills into Slays.
Villore: Well-located, cheap hub stocking all the basics, used as the main resupply point and base for FDU fleets so prices stay fairly low.
Alentene: Central system in Verge Vendor, fairly cheap, often sees quite a bit of traffic.
Octanneve: What passes for a hub in Solitude - stocks most of the basics, but prices aren't as bad as they could be.
For most people you just need Dodixie and Oursulaert, but there's the full shebang.

oursaulert is also a cool 14 jump from Jita. Its a fairly central hub. You can find just about everything youw ant in there, and its pretty good about having every gun you need, every ship you need, and every scrap of ammo. I think its improved over the last few years too. Its been a long time since I've been back in Empire, so I might be wrong.
