Where do you find the cheapest office rental rates? Is there an average office rental rate or amount? It seems the average in empire runs 1M-4M, with the hughly popular locations having no offices available but the rent shows 42M per month.
Are there any 10k per month offices left in empire?
I am looking into the research alliance options and don't want to hear I lost some potential business do to a bad location on rental rates.While I realize the monthly amount between 10k and 2M is not anything significant, some people will try and save a penny even though they will be spending millions on research anyway.
And just confirming a myth - your office rate while based on standings does not change if your standings with that corp goes up or down - it stays that way until you vacate?

If people were just doing research, it would be fine to find systems that had stations in them without factory/refinery services, those will usually have cheap rent as most people are looking for offices with good refinery/factories or a labs in the outpost itself. Also, you of course have the dilemma that places with high rents have high rents because they are popular, and close to where people are. Places with low rents are further away, so you could just as easily lose business because you are too out of the way.
Go find dead end systems / ones without good agents. Your rent WILL keep going up month after month if all the offices are taken, and not go down unless at least 2 are empty. Ideally you want to find a system with 10-20 free offices at least. Probably more. Since you get a bill a month in advance, for the next month, you can wait 2 months before your bill is down as a result of offices being vacated. |

There are plenty of 10K office left in empire, they tend to be in unpopular npc stations or low usage systems, check out the likes of Federal Storage, etc.
A few of the systems i can name are mainly in Sing Liason, spelling not accurate as i dont have the systems in front of me : Brybier,Ardene and a few others round there. |

Good point - I was looking for systems with facilities but it really doesn't matter where they do manufacturing at compared to the research on the bpo's.
I also was looking at available office numbers - Seeing a low rent and 1 left would bother me more then a higher rent and 10 available |

Yea, still low office rents in the locations that they were saying above. Another thing to possibly look for to find low rent is the station's faction affiliation mismatching with he space you are in. What I mean is, for example, I have an office at a good station in empire that has good reprocessing (50%) available as well as always having plenty of manufacturing slots open at a gallente station in amarr space, rent is only 10k and it's only 8 jumps from a large trade hub.

It can matter. Its very convenient, if more expensive in rent, to move all BPO to a factory station, remote research them in a POS, then build in the factory station all without having to move the valuable BPO and even keeping them locked-down.

IMHO - I would rather have the research POS in a place with all the facilities and spend the extra 1M a month. Yep, its about convenience and time is ISK. But while I can't imagine screaming that a 1M or 2M rental rate, especially when doing BPO research, some people will scream about anything just to hear themselves talking.
