Just curious. I am sure it is over-shadowed because the Raven/CNR/Golem is addored. But I am curious if anyone has been bold enough to try and succeed with a Rokh for level 4 missions. |

It can be done, and on some misisons its actually better than a raven due to the insta-popping of frigs at range.
Fit: 425s, passive shield tank, 3x magstabs, signal amp (to hit 110km+), pdu

How about "anyone using rokhs" period.
My friend tried it, couldn't kill battleships quickly at all, while he was using t1's....come on now, barely breaking the tank of an NPC means something is wrong.
But Rokh's are so pretty compared to the other caldari BS's... |

My experience: I tried it a long while back. It was pretty aweful.
The cap recharge on it really sucks. 8 x 425 guns eat cap a lot, which exasperates the cap problems. No damage bonus really. (although the falloff lets you use better ammo from farther away) Crappy DPS. I had a hard time perma tanking it ... So the tank kinda blew.
Just not a good ship for missions I donÆt think.

Edited by: Kirith Kodachi on 08/01/2009 15:31:06 I've run many level four missions in a Rokh and with the right skills and tactics, its very capable.

It's not the best mission BS out there ... comparable with a Megathron (same damage overall, better tank, worse tracking). Simply use one of these "modern" fittings with Pithi Small shield booster .

If you're doing level IVs in a Rokh make sure it's for fun, not for profit, because even a vanilla Raven will get them done faster than a Rokh.
Rokhs can successfully complete just about any level IV you throw at them primarily because they can out-tank anything any mission will throw at them while it kills them slowly. I did it for a while and it was fun, but it soon lost its appeal and I moved on.

Some Cavets:
1. Faction/T2 Ammo puts the DPS over 650. AntiMatter-L goes out to 80km+ but tracking sucks closer. If I know I'm fighting a lot of cruisers I will back down to 350 II's
2. I have maxed Cap skills, above build is cap stable
3. Why a CPR ? Simple. Active Hardners + CPR = Better Defense then Passive + CFC and is cap stable.
4. PDU is required for 425 fit unless you use an implant or something
5. If you feel confident in your ability to not perma a shield booster then I recommend putting a tracking CPU in the mids instead of a Recharger. It helps and its what I do most of the time.

It depends which NPC¦s your gonna fight. Railguns on a Rokh against Angels won¦t work, but blasters do. I¦ve been doing alot of missions in my Rokh in the past, with blasters, and its different, but not the fastest boat at all.

Thanks for the great responses. I think I am going to make the Rokh a personal challenge/project to do L4's and do them well. It's such a cool looking ship, it's a shame they aren't used more for PvE, or just in general.
Anyone else have some good loadouts?

I ran a level 4 witha Rohk before. I ended up using blasters and it was kinda fun. Not something I'd want to do all the time though.

I'm slightly surprised at the responses in a way. While I'd probably agree there are better missioning ships out there I get on with using my Rokh just fine. In fact I believe it to be quite cable indeed - this said I have only ever used the Rokh as I've focused my skills toward it. I can solo Lvl 4 easily enough in it and have done for awhile now and I'm only a year old character.
At first I remember it was a pain as damage struggled to break the tank of NPC battleships but that can be cured with decent gunnery skills in time.
Tracking will be the next big issue. However experience can solve this one. Cruisers or smaller can be trouble for the guns to hit 'cause if they are too close and the Angular Velocity is too high you'll be wasting ammo. In this regard Tech 2 drones are the golden key to missions - quickly dispatching frigates and somewhat more slowly ridding you of the cruisers leaving your 425's to take out the BS's & BC's. Depending on the array of ships you face it can be worth your time to pop a few cruisers and even frigates before they get close. Also if your feeling extra crazy you can actually move your ship to gain a favourable tracking on your target!!
As for tank - as someone rightly said it can be tricky to active tank as you need lotsa cap and the guns drink cap by the bucket load but if you read the excellent 'Eve Survival' mission guides and manage aggro you'll rarely have to warp out. I could never perma tank in my Rokh but I dont have to. As my gunnery skills increased and I could do more damage I reduced the tank in favour of damage mods on top of this, ( I know that sounds strange ), this achieves the effect of reducing enemy DPS quicker therefore I don't need as good a tank to complete a mission. Yay!
Sorry for rambling, but I have enjoyed this ship so I thought I'd pass it on |

I have been doing level 4s in a Rokh for ages - I think it's great
However, I have only recently been flying a Domi and Mega - so yet unable to draw a good comparison.
I have Caldari BS IV
What you have - 8 turrents and a great tank
This is my setup
Hi - 8 x 425mm Proto Gauss (base 3.3 damage modify)
Mids - 2 x Inf Field 2s, XL Shield Booster T2, Cap Recharger T2, Shield Boost Amp T2, 100MN AB
Lows - 3 x PDS II, 2 x Mag Stab 2
Rigs - 3 x CCCs
I had to tweak loadouts I found on thse forums to this one which suits me best - you may need to fit a few +3 implants to get it exactly the way you want.
I needed the AB to speed up some missions that required travelling and also to great distance between my ship and others so that my guns would hit.
I use drones for frigs etc
With AM ammo you can get great range due to the Rokh's bonuses - you could also swap in 350mm guns for better tracking. |

+great range +excellent sensor range -small dronebay -poor capstability -low dps -slooowwww -scanresolution of a damped titan
Alltogether, a really bad pve ship. Nethertheless, sometimes fun to fly in certain missions. |

Rokh DPS ain't all bad, a small comparason for me is..
Rokh vs Kronos(+35% range script) no drones
Kronos - 806dps -42km Rokh - 645dps - 50km
Kronos - 470dps - 100km optimium Rokh - 430dps - 101 km optimium
Can't really complain for it's drone bay since standard mission drones for such a ship wont use heavy's.
I used the Rokh for level 4's quite a bit, but I would not advise to any one cept hybrid gunship user's when thier not using thier Kronos.

edit I don't actualy have caldari BS 5 like the Graph makes out. But...pick a range, the highest line has the most DPS this puts the Rokh a shining 2nd in the 50-75km range. Rail Gun DPS

8x425 IIs antimatter
2xPassive Hardeners per mission 2xActive Hardeners per mission 1xCap Recharger 1xXL Shield Booster
2xMag Field Stabs II 1xTracking Enhancer II 2xPDS II
3xCCC
5x med drones per mission.
It gets the job done, barring Vengeance where I swap the cap charger for 100MN AB II for my drones to get in range and 325mm IIs to get through the tank on the last BS. It's possible with 425s but it's more of a pain in the ass as I've had to keep manually reloading guns just to keep damage on him.
