To say the least, I was severely underwhelmed.
It truly felt like too much packed into one episode, and like they had to rewrite the script overnight (they did. Had to rewrite it to accommodate as a series finale).
Spoilers: Not enough emotion. The whole thing felt really rushed, where with the same basic plot line, it could have been done a lot better (especially if it was a two-episode format). For the lack of emotion, they decided to launch the city and fly it to another galaxy. There wasn't any discussion about how this would work so well, considering they almost all died the last time they tried to move it. The combat effectiveness of a flying city, the height of ancient technology, was seriously disappointing. They got roasted in a way reminiscent of star trek (read: 70% shield in one volley, and the internal circuitry lit up like a Christmas tree). Making up on the spot technology was also a bust. "He's been working on it for months..."
TBH, the beast reveal of the episode would be to hold off any information about Atlantis leaving Pegasus and just have the big CGI reveal having it drop out of hyperspace and roast the hive.
Or, to leave Ronan dead. But whenever a Stargate (or almost any sci-fi) character dies, you have to go through this thought process: Alternate universe? Time travel to fix it (not so much stargate)? Clone? Resurrection? Etc., etc.
TL;DR, I hope the movies are better. Much, much, better. |

Agreed, very underwhelming considering that this is the last SG Atlantis episode. Sadly it was rather ho-hum.
The Sanctuary finale however... Was pretty cool... But a damn cliff hanger..

Fair point, at least they have brought in a few new twists/ideas that have not been done to death. Yet...

For a start it should have been a double episode, what they had seemed very rushed, and made it a little more epic.
Well we have BSG starting this coming week and from an article I just read in a magazine I don't think i'll be as disapointed come the end of that series. |

Eh, they're going to get one or two direct-to-DVD feature-length movies too, just like SG1... |

And so he was correct saying this was the last Atlantis EPISODE (pedantic and semantics rhymes ) |

I'm also annoyed by the fact that the wraith go straight to Earth, when there are literally thousands of human-filled Milky Way planets in their path.
Hopefully the movies will have all the races duking it out for domination of the three galaxies. |

I wasn't disputing that, merely clarifying

Which all had barely a whooping few (some tens, a couple hundreds of) million inhabitants each... compared to almost 7 billion on Earth.

Indeed there will be a few SGA movies, however the fact still remains that once the movies are released its pretty much the end of the line for SGA.
Kinda depressing considering that there are very few decent Sci-fi shows currently active with more upcoming seasons, as evidenced by the sci-fi channel airing ECW and all of those other rubbish reality shows.

Season 4 was kind of downhill, and only in season 5 they started to get it together again somewhat.
To be honest I prefer the rushed season 5 ending and subsequent slow release of the movies (of hopefully decent quality that ties up all loose ends, since they have no reason to keep dragging it on anymore) to the alternative of forcefully prolonged mediocrity that was bound to happen.

The show started to fail around late season three in my opinion and the last episode is really a culmination in some pretty crappy writing. The constant cast replacements, the lack of a central villian and HEAVY reuse of past plots were all nails in the atlantis coffin.
I have to say though that Vegas, the second to last episode, was rather entertaining, but you can only get away with that sort of episode once.
I dont hold out much hope for any Atlantis movies being worth more than a pirate download. I really hope the producers wake up and either fire the writers responsable for the Atlantis stories or manage to get the caddle prod up their asses for Star Gate Universe otherwise that show wont even make season 1 in my opinion. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:
