I for one demand dev blogs about what was served for breakfast and/or lunch and/or dinner and/or midnight snack at CCP.

Maybe there should be like a CCP twitter channel or whatever they call it, so that the devs can post stuff so we can see it.. |

So if the devs just post random blogs, whether useful, interesting, or not, you'll be happy?
I'm all for dev blogs, be it "Here are epic details on something new" or "how I spent my christmas vacation", but if I see neither, I'm not going to panic.
These forums get depressing more and more as the player base grows. |

Yes, and if they post a link to their entry I'd appreciate it, too.

There's lots of sparse bits of information about the march patch (apocwhatnow?) littered through out the forum already. You just need (a few forum *****s who can direct your attention to every crumb of information) look hard enough...
Personally, all I want at this time is a firm we will have this, this and this in that patch as so I know what to look forward to, instead of the news clips usually found on external sites.
A thorough explanation of how on earth t3 would work would be nice though, proceeded by 3 months of testing starting yesterday... |

It isn't comparable. 11 Dec 2007 was shortly after the release of Trinity on 5 Dec 2007. This year we released Quantum Rise a month earlier, on 11 Nov 2008, and if we look at the month after that date we find *8* blogs.

Hey, I'm rolling, turning and twitching
I do understand all this and it's a necessity and I know for a fact that it's also tediously slow process. One thing I don't understand is that PR relationship with the playerbase is completely FUBAR and pretty much non-excistent (unless they are stealth beavers lurking in the shadows of the forum). You (CCP) just informed us of a new PCU and guess what... Those people are advertisers also! I would imagine that a small amount of PR towards the playerbase would be beneficial. |

This together with all marketing considerations were the death to good DevBlogs. Some time ago DevBlogs were a good tool for getting info and giving feedback (before everything is set into stone). Now DevBlogs are only another marketing tool and it¦s normally better to search 3rd-party sites instead of waiting for a DevBlog.

Part of that process may involve promising exclusive coverage for some new feature. If some dev then goes ahead and broadbands the details ahead of time this puts a bit of strain on the relationship between us and the press, which can result in EVE getting less coverage.
I find this part horrible. I would want the customers to be the first to get their hands on new information. Its horrible that current subscribers are prioritized less than some damn media chumps
All information must be published in some way accessible to subscribers at the same time or before any other media. You can then prioritize all you want for the rest of the damn media circus. But dont **** on your existing users!!! |

It's called PR. It's a business at the end of the day so certain things are provided as exclusives to the media. You still get to hear about it when it's published, what difference does it make? You can't use these 'features' until there implemented anyway. CCP give us a LOT more information than other MMO's but some people are never happy unless they're whining about something which seems to be more and more of the player base these days. This is an opt in service, nobody forces you to play.
People might want to start enjoying what we have than wildly speculating about CCP's apparent hidden intentions to **** the player base off every chance they get.
Lighten up and enjoy the game, and failing that; Cancel your subscription.

Not bad! Looks like you changed one of your japanese representations and not updated the other though, the romaji doesn't match the kana. For what it's worth, I prefer the way you have it in the romaji and English. "Taste of coffee" doesn't have quite the same ring.
For those who can't read Japanese, that's a proper Haiku. It's got a season, a theme of change as well as the correct syllabic structure.

... Is what it was supposed to be. I did the initial version in kanji, then forgot to change it when i edited the romanji version. |

Huh. From the name "devblog" I would have assumed that they were written by people who were actually, y'know, the devs. What you describe sounds entirely like a marketing activity, which would imply that the name would be "marketingblog". Maybe it's time your forum tag was updated to be more accurate. *shrug*

Problem with Dev blogs is there not spread out over time, like the last batch of blogs came 1-2days after each other. IE means lots of info to read switching from one blog to another = overload in information |

That quote is Whisper talking about the actual coders, i.e. developers. So, the blogs are indeed written by devs. If you read the post, the marketing guys just say when the devs can't write about a certain feature. |
