In the evemail tonight is a wardec from MERCENARIES OF D00M, with a bogus alt ceo made a few hours ago in a currently 4 member corp.
So, whats next? Care? Laugh? Think it matters? Or wait for the stunt to add random other people to the corp and stuff it up to attack my corp?

How do you take on some lamebear that wants to do PvP but can't seem to find that little thing in space called 0.0?

It does...its either a joke or someone real or someone very real. The effects are exactly the same. A corp CEO can do nothing about it.
What is the absolute worst case thing that can happen? A corp disbands some of its members, they still group up from a chat channel, voice coms, mailing list, and sit in an NPC corp. Nothing else changes about how they play the game. For those corp members that don't want to do any PvP, all this does is make the decide to hang it out, group up more, or go back to an NPC bucket corp immune from this which to them is nonsense.
So yes, lol - What would you expect? Some form of real respect and shaking in their boots over this? Why not have the real people form the corp that files the wardec? For the mystery of who might be in it for the element of suprise?
Puh lease - I just spent the past few weeks in IMMENSEA with my corp where the alliance around has ran and hid in their POS everytime a red flew into local. I like cats, especially with General Tso's sauce http://www.skamarakas.com/jim

Yep - great info Doing the warning messages to corp mates No POS, we sold them all of when we left our previous alliance Thats the one we have to wait and see I guess - since this is a corp made to do this, it will just take a bit of time to find the names. Locator agents - know of two close by, one of these days, got to find out how to locate locator agents ;)
Alts to watch stations / systems easy to do - the go one jump ahead
The hard part is going to bne finding out what time zone they are in so we know when they won't be bothing us while school is in session. I like cats, especially with General Tso's sauce http://www.skamarakas.com/jim

I saw this as a serious way around this, but this really only adds another small ISK cost to the person who does the wardec. Their filling on a second corp isn't that much greater. With a wardec so cheap and so common, its not much of a threat once people get over the suprise of it.
I mean, what, play a race of moving from corp to corp while they wardec, run out of available wardec slots and then make another boug alt corp to wardec from another 3 times? AWith 24 hours to vote and then notice, its not going to be that hard to burn up 2 weeks of no shots being fired. But do people really do this? Edited by: MadMuppet on 13/01/2009 18:10:44 DAY 1 : So we are at war, very scary stuff too. I shake in fear at the sudden thought of my large unarmed cargo box being blown to pieces instantly. The Eveverse is so small that I might be cornered at any moment. I tremble as I float here in space, mining laser at the ready prepared to remove the space dust of an enemy battle cruiser moments before I have it vaporized around me. I find a pencil, it isn't sharp enough so I whittle away at it to make it extra-pointy. It is my weapon of last resort.
DAY 2: I continue to ply the space ways to find more asteroids to tear asunder waxing apathetic that death will find me at any moment. I now have a second pencil at the ready, tucked behind my ear menacingly. Tonight I dine on rations while chopping up another set of asteroids.
Last night I did lose my ship, but it was to a bunch of legitimate pirates in a low-security area of space. It is good to see people trying to make an honest living in space in light of all of the events of the last 24 hours.
Events earlier were very anti-climatic as well. Concerned about a load of frozen goods that might spoil in the station (and not wanting another spoiled cargo ticket from the Concord authorities) I careful weaved my way in to Ziona, knowing that my ship would stand no change against the certain death of the battle cruisers stalking the corp. I had heard the chatter on the comm system from the other day, so I knew the threat was real. "I am parked outside your station! Come out and fight me!" "Come on out! One-on-one!" The next transmission was garbled, but it sounds something like, "Aw come on, you gonna come out and play or not?"
So as I approached Ziona I feared a Giant Death Cruiser of Doom* would pop my ship at any moment. But there was nothing.
I grabbed my frozen goods and raced out of the station, watching the timer tick over as my ship slowly, painfully, rotated in to alignment. Warp Drive Active! YES! I had escaped!
I fly to the next system, but there was no trap. Then the next and the next. Nothing.
I check the comm system and the clock. Maybe the war was over. Nope. Odd.
War sure is quiet.
Well, my favorite show is being broadcast, '23' it is a story of a Minmatar government agent saving the galaxy from the great political downtime, I never miss an episode. Maybe that is where the enemy pilots are, at the bar watching '23' as well.
And the war continues...

All wine is toxic. The human body cannot metabolize alcohol, and when alcohol becomes present in certain organs in too high a quantity too quickly it can cause various problems.

DAY 3: The war continues. Today I found a pencil sharpener, so my two combat pencils (one behind each ear) will never be dull and I will never run out of ammo. It even has a novelty chip in it that says æYour pencil has run out of chargesÆ when you use it.
I did catch some cross chatter on the comm system and I thought I should make note of it here:
They DO know where I was! How could this be? Then I saw a sign at a station that said æLocator AgentÆ. I went over to her and asked her, ôAre you able to tell people where I am?ö and she replied ôYou are right here.ö GASP! She was right! I had better make sure that I donÆt find myself again like that, I might give myself away to the enemy.
Next up, the ransom message. Wait, how many zeros is that? 1,2,3,4à wow. I cross check the message with another. Nope. No typo, that was the amount. Well, we havenÆt paid it yet, and there is no pro-rated chart for it, so the losses we must taking have to be staggering to pay that muchà
Loading corp combat recordsà Cross ref: Mercenaries of Doom inflicted losses. Results = 4. Modify search for all losses inflicted after the start of the war. Results = 2 Modify search to remove losses inflicted on known traitors, moles, and spies that caused self inflicted losses in failed attempts to trap other members. Results =1. Compare cost of lost ship with amount of ransom demand factoring production and mining income reductions from the æwarÆà carry the oneà huhàdid you know that a calculator can laugh?
I will admit that leaving my regular stomping grounds for another system has caused a certain logistical issue for me. The asteroid belts out here are much larger, far more dense, and closer to the stations forcing me to have to fly less and mine more. This has forced me to totally rebalance all my books for the upcoming tax season. You see I had them in a nice stack by the starboard view port, but with all the extra docking and undocking from the shorter flight times they fell over.
I have been trying to determine what kind of a war this is. It isnÆt a war of conquest as there is no territory changing hands. It isnÆt an interdiction, as there are no fixed supply routes to disrupt. It isnÆt a war of attrition, as there have been no significant losses. Oh wait, here is some more comm trafficà
Ah, got it! This is a civil war! Everybody has been very friendly I guess. The single recorded combat loss was based on an agreed upon meet on the field of battle. How very noble of them to hold it that way. There is also a cross-chat about PVP ships, local sporting events, and green jello recipes.
One more bit of comm traffic to report. There was a sighting of an enemy ship in the Domain area following one of our ships. This is followed shortly there after by another sighting of the same enemy ship attempting an animalistic docking hump maneuver with an unwilling ship piloted by someone with a similar name to our corp member. Huh.
IÆve been watching reruns of the Benny Hull Variety Space Show, the babes are something to be beholdà wowzer!

Personal Log:
i think i saw one of them come online for 5 minutes today... but i was up in The Forge training new recruits so we didn't say hi or cross lasers.
I had started to think DayWalker as a friend, if not, at least a chivalrous enemy for agreeing to good terms of combat and sticking to them. except we haven't seen him online in 2 days now. This always happens when a small merc corp declares on the current 'training noobs' corp I'm in. so boring to be on the lookout in local for 2 names that glow bright red that never appear...

Day 4: The conflict continues. At least I think it does. There has been no sign of the enemy the few times IÆm been flying in the last 24 hours. There are also no additional reports of losses from either side.
I have heard from some of the other pilots explaining that they are suffering from the same problems I am, that is, finding asteroid belts with more minerals that we are used to forcing us to make above average incomes. Perhaps this is the cunning plan to get us to make mistakes on the tax forms so we all get audited in a couple months for misreporting our incomes?
What is going on around here? Oh wait; my new oracle sphere might have the answer.
What is an oracle sphere you ask? It is a small gloss black tritainum sphere with a small flat window on one side that you look in to (it also keeps if from rolling off the control panel). You hold it up above your head and shake it, calling it twice by name, and ask it yes/no or true/false questions. You then peer in to the window and the answer is revealed to you.
I bought the top of the line model, which is supposed to include a navigational assistant. The models are named after military ranks, the cheapest being the Private model, which is only slight less useful than flipping a coin in a zero-g environment. I however went all out and bought the Admiral version.
I named it Tim, after my now deceased pet bird who liked to sleep in the thermal-regulator coupling.
Holding the Oracle Sphere over my head I declare:
ôAdmiral Tim Tim!ö (Yelling seems to yield better answers IÆve found) ôCan this war be over?ö
I peer in to the window, æoutlook not certainÆ
Huh.
ôAdmiral Tim Tim! Will a large battle fleet of capital ships come to our rescue soon?ö
æMark my words, very soonÆ
Sigh. OK, that is a known bug with the Oracle Sphere system, no matter how many firmware updates they release for it, the manufacturer says that that answer is never correct and should be ignored as a flight of fantasy.
ôAdmiral Tim Tim! Should I have red wine with my Tim bird curry?ö
æYes and truly, this is right.Æ
Ok, time to eat. MMM tastes like chicken.
Until tomorrowà

- The attackers, ehr... they spend their lifes staring at headquarters station... epileptic issues and hospitalizations are not uncommon ;) and obviously the millions are spent illogically in this war.
- The others are just carebears who stop playing normally and then sit at their stations even when they are probably 10jumps from the nearest attacker. But who cares. They run an alt or just ruin their main character's economy.

the whole point muppet is making, we havent lost at all... he's mining better than ever... and ive continued my PVE missioning as normal and from changing to ever higher quality agents, theyve throughly lost me. now im 18 jumps from where they started doing the next level from when this 'war' started. and i actually made a run into the HQ they usually camp just to drop off goods that i'm keeping for later.
we arent carebears, they were hired by the leader of the alliance we just left, which has SOMEHOW managed to hold 5 of the 8 systems they once had SOV over. now THATS an alliance of carebares whose entire defense mantra is 'stay under the POS shields.' we're headed back out to 0.0 as soon as we remake the billions of lost isk from being the only people who actually fought raiding parties. which we usually lost because the other 15 ships in local were under the POS shields like normal... |

MadMuppet, how goes the strain of war? I know it must certainly be hell to have to deal with the sudden influx of materials coupled with the shortened flight times. Be sure that you examine the rivets on your craft to make sure there is no damage caused by the extra loads you are now forced to carry. And when you...LOOK OUT! ...Oh, sorry, thought I saw one of your pencils about to fall off your ear. Disaster averted. You should probably have all your tax forms double-checked, just to ensure that you do not incur the dreaded Audit-Dec. Hang in there and hopefully you will ne'er be led astray by an Oracle Sphere tempted by bribes from the enemy, or the refining facilities that have to deal with the ramped-up influx of materials. May the Forc...uh, Live long an...hmmmm...well, fly safe? Yes, that's it...fly safe.

Day 5: CaptainÆs logà Stuck
ôWhereÆs that ****ing plunger?ö
Bit of advice, red wine should NOT be served with Tim bird curry. One should just drink the wine and use the curry as a riot control agent.
OK, to businessà
Flush
OK, now to the newsà
No end in sight for the warà also no additional combat losses and no additional sightings.
I chatted with one of the enemy pilots last night, trying to get a better understanding of what is supposed to be going on. The only information that changed is their background story as to why this whole thing started; they now deny they were hired by anybody. So, they would appear to be suffering from a bit of an identity crisis, because they say they are mercenaries, but if they were not hired, then they are pirates. Maybe there is a parrot shortage again, I should check the markets, as there might be a profit there. Arr!
Seeing how the background story changed I figured IÆd check and see if the ransom did, but sadly it did not. There was a very brief discussion about a change in the ransom, and I offered a value befitting of the losses we have attained. I think I was being more than fair by not making it a negative number to start, but they didnÆt see it that way and the discussion abruptly ended.
Sitting here writing this, I now find the brevity of yesterdayÆs exchange very worrisome. You see I printed it out and now find that it is too short to clean myself up from last nightÆs curry. Someone has cornered the toilet paper market and IÆve run out of the station copies of the Watchstation from those guys in the pink robes with shaved eyebrows. Maybe next weekÆs chapter of the war will result in longer communications.
For those of you scanning this little event log, especially the newer pilots, please feel free to come talk to us in our open chat channel 10045. Advice if free and we do not require you to place our corporate emblem on your ship to hang out with us. We are not about to let the AFK division of the Pirates of Doom ruin our bottom line. Stop by and say hi, weÆll leave the docking bay light on for you.
Fly safe.

Day 6: I had to swing by the office today to check the bills. No traps sighted. No enemy sighted. Luckily things have been so quiet that all the bills were just bills and there were no Williams.
Oh, yeah, war update: Ships lost in the last 24 hours to combat: 0 Amount of ransom paid: 0 Number of known engagements with enemy: 0
I was watching an ancient cartoon the other night about a dog-like creature that would hunt a very faster bird that apparently was unable to fly. This poor stupid dog would waste huge time and resources to catch this little bird, which never really seemed to care that he was the object of a dinner platter. The dog would order traps from a company called ACME, which surely must have cost a huge pile of isk. I have to wonder, if perhaps he would have benefited from sampling ordering FOOD from ACME.
It reminds me of our current conflict.

Ships auto log 10045th Log Bat - day seven.
The captain wet the bed this morning. Cried himself back to sleep and then accidentally popped his capsule out of the emergency hatch for he was drunk. Hooray. I am a liberated ship. I can go where I please, I can see whom I want. I can fire upon what I deem so needed. Pity I have mining lasers, and a crappy armor buffer tank. And I'm a hauler. all of a sudden my future looks bleek and cold. Maybe I should retrieve the captain. Nah, sod that. I'll just ram into this asteroid over and over til i see sense in why I joined the 10045th Logistics Battalion.
*screee skrrr bishhhhh pfft end log*

LOL, look, stay calm, Wardec from grief corps are part of the game, they want some war fun, you have 2 choices:
1. Fight them till they get board or 2. Like others said, set up another dummy corp, all leave corp 1 & leave a NEW ALT there as CEO. Now Wardec grief corp will be chasing their tails for the next few weeks !
When wardec ends, move back
I remember the same thing many moons ago, it was a joke, CCP does not care about new player or new corps, griefing is part of their game.
The moral, although harsh, is learn to play the game and then play the play... There is no disrespect outwitting the fox. Find a corp in 0.0 and come play with the men ;)
all the best in your strategy to out smart the opposition.. |

Edited by: Irish Blend on 18/01/2009 01:03:16 I know the 10045 has nothing against you Enden. Our only beef was their dumping the logistics role on you. And then days later Imperator Ceasar trying to hit you with his bus a few times over that same position selection.
I would rather hang out with the mercs that have wardec'd us then the SFA leadership team - at least the people wardec'ing us don't talk out of two sides of their mouth and their butt all at the same time.

Edited by: MadMuppet on 18/01/2009 16:30:14 Day 7: Despite the sheer terror of enemy pilots being in their shipsà wait.. that isnÆt right. Let me try that again.
Day 7: Despite the terror ofà umà noà
Day 7: With mild concern I note that a single enemy pilot might actually be in my way as I take my heavily unarmed industrial to Lagforge station in Jita to pick up supplies for a friendÆs POS because his folks were in a shooting war where both sides were actually engaged in putting rounds on target. I mean war, whatÆs it good for?
From there I flew down to UNL south to deal with some unfinished business before returning to empire (thank you to the guy that let me in). No enemy action encountered thereà from anyone. I wonder where the party was on a Saturday night. I mean Saturday night is alright for fighting, get a little action inà
Well, as I write this I see the message that the war ends in six hours. We are awaiting the next step, our first indirect counter attack where we can inflict another 2million isk of losses on these guys with paperwork over the next week. So many light-years to go, and things to be foundà
Note to self, red wine should not be consumed on karaoke night. While it makes me feel so fine, it keeps me rockinÆ all of the time.
Oh, I did find a single parrot to replace Tim. I bought him of a pirate named Frank who was so drunk from his vodka that he was talking nonsense. IÆve named him Mir.
So now, having dealt with FrankÆs nonsense and Mir, I set course for my next profit, a load small baked crisp breads for a tomato soup plant.

Day 8: The war is over. Yip-py. It would not appear, at the time of writing this, that the enemy will extend hostilities in to next week, thereby thwarting our indirect economic counter-attack. Bummer, I guess they were too smart for us.
Looking back at the damages, it seems like it was hardly worth bothering with this whole deal. Other that day 1 posturing and the enemy begging for people to shoot at, not much really happened. I still made it to karaoke night, mining actually improved, and recruitment never really changed.
I cannot understand how anybody could possibly think that four people would be able to inflict enough damage on a small decentralized corp like ours to the amount of 800 million isk. I would recommend they try something a little easier for their next adventure, perhaps herding cats or selling blinker fluid and muffler oil?
It was an interesting exercise in exploration and mining expansion for me. I personally now have three sets of mining equipment in three different regions, all connected with jump clones so to hunt me down would take an enemy the better part of 45 minutes just to get to me, where after I simply hop to another set of equipment and continue playing while they hump the 45 minutes all the way back. Having my mind transplanted from one clone to another is not a big deal anymore; people say IÆve lost my mind on a regular basis, so I now have three places to find it again.
The cost of this little investment was also less than 1% of the aforementioned ransom, and was easily paid for by the increased profits from the better mining. So, thank you Pirates of Doom. We are now in a much better position than we were before. See you in low-sec and 0.0, if you ever bother to actually log on.
Well, until the next war. Fly safe

Day 11: Post combat report. In response to briefly reported propaganda from the enemy (I wish they would say more, Mir died and I made another curry), I hereby submit the losses table from the corp. As posted last week. There were a total of four losses credited to the Mercenaries of Doom. Of those losses, two were the result of combat during the war period. One of those losses was an enemy plant. The last was an agreed upon duel.
Official losses to Mercenaries of Doom: 1 Hulk - Killed prior to war start. 1 Megathron - Killed prior to war start. 1 Maller - Piloted by enemy plant (where is everybody? Isn't anybody going to come help me? LOL) 1 Thorax - Mutually agreed upon combat.
Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.
Mir curry is no better than Tim curry. While I do remember the time warp, I suffer a bit of a mind slip by trying this again. I thought I had done the calculations correctly this time, but instead everything got plugged up. Luckily I was able to work it out with a pencil.

As I've stated previously I'm easily entertained. So easily entertained in fact that during 10045th Logistics Battalion war the single high point in my day was checking for the daily war reports here in this thread.
But alas, the war has come to an end, and with it the entertaining war reports of MadMuppet.
Now just to clear a few things off my plate and scrounge around for some spare ISK and maybe we can get back to the humorous war reports next week.
